Er zimmert eine verrückte Konstruktion nach der anderen zusammen... In einer weiteren Brumm'schen Geschichte fordert Bauer Hackenpiep zu einem Fußball-Match heraus: Hackenpiep und seine Neffen gegen Dr. Brumms "Gurkentruppe". Aber von wegen Gurken! Dr. Brumm und seine Freunde wollen beweisen, dass sie es draufhaben.

Dr. Dolittles Zirkus ist in schweren Nöten: Direktor Blossom hat sich mit dem ganzen Geld aus dem Staub gemacht. Dab-Dab, Göb-Göb, Jip und die anderen Tiere sind deshalb unangenehm überrascht, als der gutmütige Dr. Dolittle die Kanariensängerin Pipinella kauft, um sie aus ihrer Gefangenschaft in einem Tierladen zu erlösen. Schon bald aber erweist sich dieser Kauf als wahrer Glücksfall für den Zirkus. Die abenteuerliche Lebensgeschichte Pipinellas regt Dr. Dolittle an, danach eine Tieroper zu schreiben.

"Dr. Brumm feiert Weihnachten"(Hauptgeschichte): Was macht Dr. Brumm an Weihnachten? Weihnachten feiern natürlich! Mit seinen Freunden Pottwal und Dachs hat er sich schon auf den Weg gemacht, um den allerschönsten Weihnachtsbaum im ganzen Wald zu suchen. Doch auch Bauer Hackenpiep will Weihnachten feiern - und schnappt ihnen den Baum vor der Nase weg! Schöne Bescherung! Aber so schnell geben Dr. Brumm und seine Freunde nicht auf.

"Dr. Brumm steckt fest" (Hauptgeschichte): Dr. Brumm steckt fest. Im Goldfischglas! Das gefällt Pottwal überhaupt nicht. Er blubbert und zappelt in seinem Glas umher. Davon wird Dr. Brumm ganz schwindelig und er tritt KRACK! in die Gießkanne. Zum Glück ist Pottwal sehr schlau. Er weiß genau, wie man sich aus einer Gießkanne befreit. Doch dabei landet Dr. Brumm leider im Milchtopf... "Dr. Brumm geht baden": Am Grund des Sees soll der wilde und gefährliche Zornickel lauern.

Zug fahren? Kein Problem für Dr. Brumm! Er drückt auch gleich den richtigen Knopf und - WROMM!, die Lok setzt sich in Bewegung. Tonnerwetter! Doch die Lok wird schneller. Und schneller. Und rattert leider direkt auf die alte morsche Brücke zu. Dass Dr. Brumm die Lok stoppen muss, ist klar. Nur wie, ist nicht ganz so klar.

In this follow-up to the first of Hugh the series though, Lofting assigns the starring role to Tommy Stubbins who is now an "old man". He recalls how he met Doctor John Dolittle and the many adventures they shared. The Doctor is working on learning the language of the Shellfish and their adventures take them from a trial for murder to adventures on the high seas, culminating in their arrival on Spidermonkey Island. Then comes a war between the native tribes, Dolittle being crowned King, the arrival of the Great Glass Sea-Snail and their eventual return to Puddleby-on-the-Marsh.

No one loves and understands animals like the eccentric 19th-century physician Dr. Dolittle, who masters animal language with the help of Polynesia the parrot. After his human patients desert him, the kind-hearted doctor finds his calling in practicing animal medicine, and his fame spreads far and wide. When a terrible epidemic breaks out among monkeys in Africa, Dr. Dolittle sets out to save them, accompanied by some of his favorite pets.

Es geht schon um eine recht schlimme Sache in unserer Geschichte. Der alte Lukas, ein bis dahin harmloser Einsiedler, soll einen Mord begangen haben. Doch Doktor Dolittle glaubt an die Unschuld des Angeklagten und übernimmt dessen Verteidigung vor Gericht. Doch mehr sei jetzt nicht verraten. Werdet selbst Zuhörer des Prozesses, in dessen spannendem Verlauf die Bulldogge Bob und "der Hund des Richters" dem Recht zum Sieg verhelfen.

Als Dr. Brumm sein Gemüsebeet umgräbt, stößt er auf die Knochen eines waschechten Dinosauriers! Nur den Kopf des Urtiers finden Dr. Brumm, Dachs und Pottwal nicht. Ihre Suche führt sie ausgerechnet in Bauer Hackenpieps Garten, aber der duldet kein Graben auf seinem Grundstück und eine List muss her.
