Man sieht sich gedrungen wünschen zu wollen und sagen zu können, dass nach der akustischen Auseinandersetzung mit Nietzsches Unzeitgemäßen Betrachtungen jeder ein Stück klüger wird als er war – doch leider belehren uns Vergangenheit und Gegenwart eines besseren und lassen diesen unausgesprochenen frommen Wunsch wie eine Seifenblase im Orkan im Entstehungs-Ansatz zerplatzen. Je konkreter und klarer Gedanken formuliert werden, desto schwieriger sind sie zu verstehen.

Was ist Raum? Was ist Zeit? Was die Bedingungen der Möglichkeit von Erfahrung und Wissenschaft? Diese Fragen beschäftigen Philosophen seit jeher. Im ersten Teil seiner bahnbrechenden Kritik der reinen Vernunft, der von ihm sogenannten "Transzendentalen Ästhetik", gibt Immanuel Kant auf diese zwei Fragen Antworten, die die Diskussion darüber auf ein bis dahin noch nicht erreichtes Niveau hoben und die Philosophie im engeren Sinne wie auch den sich bereits zu seiner Zeit mehr und mehr verzweigenden modernen Wissenschaften ein neues erkenntnistheoretisches Fundament gaben.

Though born to a poor but pious family of ribbon weavers in Saxony in 1762, Johann Gottlieb's exceptional intelligence was apparent from an early age. In the 20th and 21st century, his importance and contribution to Western philosophy has been increasingly acknowledged. There are two substantial lecture series and one essay stemming from his time in Berlin in Popular Works Volume 2: much of Fichte's important work appeared initially in lectures.
