Nato da un'amicizia totale quanto discreta, sviluppatasi nel corso di un ventennio, tra Leonardo Sciascia e Matteo Collura, questo audiolibro è più di una biografia, è quasi un romanzo e insieme una sorta di guida alla lettura e alla comprensione delle opere di Sciascia, nel contesto della sua vita e della società della quale ha denunciato barbarie e ingiustizie. Il racconto muove dalla Sicilia degli anni venti del secolo scorso e arriva alla fine dei "decisivi" anni ottanta.

Quella che leggerete è una storia piccola, quasi invisibile. È la storia della mia amicizia con il mio maestro, Giovanni Testori (1923-1993). Se la propongo ai lettori è per due ragioni: la prima è perché essa apre una finestra su uno dei rapporti fondamentali che legano le persone tra loro, il rapporto maestro-discepolo. La seconda è perché Giovanni Testori si è situato in controtendenza rispetto alla grande maggioranza degli intellettuali del suo tempo, che rifuggivano l'idea di far da maestri a qualcuno.

Al nostro secolo è mancata la vocazione di costruire cattedrali. Ma c'è Raymond Isidore che costruì una cattedrale fatta di detriti. E la sorte volle che questo incongruo monumento, oggi considerato un luogo d'arte, sorgesse a Chartres. Dapprima fonditore, poi pulitore di rotaie e alla fine custode di discariche e cimiteri, Raymond Isidore, detto Picassiette, raccolse instancabilmente nella spazzatura frammenti di tazze, piatti e bicchieri, con i quali ricopriva ogni superficie e ogni suppellettile della sua casa.

Una morte sconvolgente, ossessivamente annunciata, preparata con implacabile meticolosità e infine celebrata dinanzi al mondo come un rituale spettacolare e tragico. L'uscita di scena di Mishima ha rappresentato al tempo stesso l'apoteosi del personaggio, condannato da un demone inquieto a una vita perennemente sopra le righe, e la parola conclusiva dello scrittore, la sigla di un'opera in cui gioventù, bellezza e morte appaiono intrecciate in un destino ineluttabile.
