يعتبر الكتاب من المصادر الأدبية الهامة التي يعتمد عليها في دراسة الأدب والشعر العربي، حيث يتناول تراجم الشعراء المشهورين في الأدب العربي من خلال إبداعاتهم الشعرية، مع التركيز على جانب الإنشاد وأساليب التعبير الشعري.
