Moriae encomium, zu Deutsch: Lob der Torheit (oder Lob der Narrheit), ist der Titel eines der bekanntesten Werke des niederländischen Humanisten Erasmus von Rotterdam. Das Werk, ein herausragendes, zu seiner Zeit wirkmächtiges Beispiel der Narrenliteratur, ist auch als Laus stultitiae bekannt. Es wurde eines der meistgelesenen Bücher der Weltliteratur und wurde schon zu Lebzeiten des Erasmus in viele europäische Sprachen übersetzt, denn Satiren waren in der Renaissance die bevorzugte Literatur der Gebildeten.

Martin Kreutzer will nach oben. Als Volontär einer überregionalen Berliner Tageszeitung muss er sich jedoch beweisen, denn Ruhm und Reichtum kriegt man nicht einfach geschenkt. Lukas Moretti war sein Kommilitone und schon damals in München ein Star unter den Studenten, doch inzwischen ist ihm mit seinem Mix aus performativer Kunst und euphorischen Elektropartys der internationale Durchbruch gelungen. Martin verspricht seiner Redaktion ein Exklusivinterview mit Moretti. So richtig kennt er ihn zwar nicht, aber was ist schon eine kleine Lüge zur Rettung der Karriere.

Die Handlung der Novelle spielt in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts in Deutschland. Der Ich-Erzähler, wohl Hauffs Alter Ego, verpflichtet sich, die Memoiren Satans herauszugeben, damit seine Seele verschont werde. Wo und in welcher Gesellschaft sich Gottes Ewiger Widersacher in Deutschland tummelt, soll hier nicht ausführlich verraten werden, aber seine bissige Sicht auf den akademischen Betrieb deutscher Universitäten, die nationalistische Geheimbündelei der Burschenschaften, des Militärs und der Philister wären auch heute noch ein Leckerbissen für jeden scharfzüngigen Satiriker.

The Glugs of Gosh is a book of satirical verse written by Australian author C. J. Dennis, published by Angus & Robertson in 1917. The book's 13 poems are vignettes of life in a fictional kingdom called Gosh, inhabited by an arboreal race (that is to say, climbers) known as Glugs. Dennis describes the Glugs as a "stupid race of docile folk".
