It is as great an offence against a child to starve his mind as to starve his body. The Astorg Audiobook collection means to bring together the fairy tales, stories, myths and legends which have fed the children of many generations in the years when the imagination is awakening and craving stimulus and material to work upon.

Joan of Arc is one of the most astounding heroins in French history. Her achievements leave anyone who knows her story shaking his head in amazed wonder. A small peasant girl born in Domrémy, she said she was visited by the Archangel Michael, Saint Margaret and Saint Catherine, who instructed her to support the King Charles VII to recover France from English domination. It was the end of the Hundred Years' war, and the French army was miserable, almost defeated, and hopeless; but the young maiden obeyed the voice that spoke to her and took arms, eventually leading a galvanized army to astounding victories. She was later caught by a coalition allied with the English; the ensuing story of her trial and eventual execution at the stake is one of the most distressing episodes of history, with lies and manipulation forcing a political agenda against all evidence.

Tristan, siostrzeniec i wasal Marka, króla Kornwalii, staje do walki z potężnym rycerzem Morhołtem. Zwycięża, ale jest śmiertelnie ranny. Od rychłej śmierci ratuje go siostrzenica Morhołta, córka króla Irlandii, piękna Izolda Złotowłosa. Tristan wraca na dwór króla, który planuje ożenić się z właścicielką złotego włosa przyniesionego przez jaskółkę. Wasal wyrusza, by ją odnaleźć - przeżywa kolejne przygody, zabija smoka, terroryzującego Irlandię i w nagrodę otrzymuje rękę pięknej Izoldy, lecz przysięga, że zabierze ją do Kornwalii, aby została żoną króla Marka.

Najstarszy i najbardziej znany francuski epos rycerski, należący do tzw. chansons de geste (pieśni o bohaterskich czynach). Epos przedstawia dzieje wyprawy wojennej Karola Wielkiego do Hiszpanii przeciw Saracenom w roku 778, a szczególnie bitwę w wąwozie Roncevaux.

The epic poem Beowulf has enthralled readers for centuries with its tale of adventure, heroism, and glory in combat. The court of Hrothgar, good king of the Danes, has fallen under attack from the vile giant Grendel. Beowulf, a young hero of the Geats, comes with his band of dauntless warriors to aid the king and prove his might in combat and skill as a leader before ascending the throne of his own land.

John Parsons Cook was a 28-year-old bachelor from a good family but not in robust health. He studied to become a lawyer, but instead of following that career, turned to raising race horses. In November 1855, during a visit to the Shrewsbury races, he was taken violently ill. He was attended by the 80-year-old local doctor, Dr. Bamford, and Cook's friend and sometimes partner, Dr. Palmer. William Palmer was a physician and surgeon, a widower and father. His appearance instilled confidence and invited trust. But were appearances deceptive? Was he, in fact, a cool, calculating, and vicious serial murderer?

This is my account of life as a hitman from someone who has been doing it for years. Hitmen commit heinous crimes virtually every day of the week and, in most instances, we don't even realise. I've been a killer for hire for more than twenty years now, but life as a fulltime professional...
