Andrey has finally obtained the first of the five swords he needs to complete the Goddess of Fate's quest. Now his path is taking him to the subterranean city of the Gremlins, Arkem. Gremlins are unpleasant, rascally creatures, with a twisted system of logic and a penchant for limitless chaos. So trying to negotiate with them is always fraught with danger. Fortunately, they happen to worship the mechanisms of the Ancients, which are somehow, mysteriously, connected to Andrey's hidden "Slider" class. This means that Andrey has a chance of recovering the second sword after all.

Gamer Andrey continues his travels through the world of Arktania, mastering the ability to handle electrical energy and developing his unusual profession, glassblowing. Having received an epic quest from Elenia, the Goddess of Fate, he discovers to his shock that her power is not constrained within the game. Now the virtual Goddess follows Andrey in real life as well, threatening his life if he should fail to complete the tasks she assigns him. There's no turning back. More than that, to be honest, he's beginning to like Arktania with all its residents, its puzzles, and its adventures.

Arktania is a virtual game with a steampunk style. It's a place where magic spells, enchanted artifacts, steam-powered machines, firearms, and mechanical golems are a part of everyday life. Gamer Andrew Falk begins his journey in a small village on the border of Orcish territory. The locals are the keepers of many secrets, but their behavior is too realistic for characters in a game; so realistic, in fact, that Andrew starts to treat them as if they were real people.

It's time to set off for the lands of the Orcs in search of the fourth sword, but first Falk and his friends have to bring someone back from the dead—another friend, who recently died in the real world. Henceforth, Artyom will become the Emissary of the God of the Dead in Arkatnia, while the virtual God migrates over into the real world. To make this happen, though, Artyom's girlfriend (who's never played a computer game in her life) will need to search the coffins that fly over the capital until she finds the one that contains a copy of Artyom's character.

Falk has only a few days to obtain the Wood Sword in the Lands of the Elves. And he also has to make a trip to the capital to report the successful completion of his quest, and find out why the Empire needs a specialist who can control the Mechanisms of the Ancients in the first place. In the real world, meanwhile, more and more emissaries from Arktania's Gods are appearing all the time, and the confrontation between them is only getting more intense.

Andrew setzt seine Erkundung von Arktanien fort. Dabei meistert er sowohl seine neue Fähigkeit im Umgang mit der Elektrizität als auch seinen Beruf als Glasbläser. Während er für die Schicksalsgöttin Elenia auf einer epischen Quest unterwegs ist, stellt er mit Schrecken fest, dass ihre Macht nicht auf die Spielwelt beschränkt ist. Aus der virtuellen Welt folgt sie Andrew in die Realität. Sollte er ihren Auftrag nicht erfüllen, steht sein Leben auf dem Spiel. Er muss weitermachen.

Arktanien ist eine virtuelle Steampunk-Welt, in der Zaubersprüche, verzauberte Artefakte, dampfbetriebene Maschinen, Schusswaffen und mechanische Golems zum Alltag gehören. Andrew Falk beginnt seine Reise in der Spielwelt in einem kleinen Dorf an der Grenze zum Reich der Orks. Die Einwohner bewahren viele Geheimnisse, aber ihr Verhalten ist viel zu realistisch für normale NPCs. Tatsächlich beginnt Andrew schon nach kurzer Zeit, sie wie echte Menschen zu behandeln.

Andrew hat mit seinem Charakter Falk endlich das erste der fünf Schwerter errungen, die er für die Schicksalsgöttin beschaffen muss. Das nächste Schwert befindet sich in Arkem, der unterirdischen Stadt der Gremlins. Dieses Volk ist für seine unangenehme und rüpelige Art ebenso wie für eine bizarre Logik und den Hang zum Chaos berüchtigt. Ob die Gremlins überhaupt bereit sein werden, mit ihm zu verhandeln, weiß Falk nicht. Doch es besteht eine Chance, denn die Gremlins verehren die Mechanismen der Uralten. Er muss nur herausfinden, welche geheimnisvolle Verbindung zwischen diesen Mechanismen und seiner Slider-Klasse besteht.

Falk hat das zweite der fünf Schwerter in seinen Besitz gebracht. Nun führt seine Quest für die Göttin ihn ins Land der Elfen. Doch bevor er aufbrechen kann, muss er Arkem mithilfe der Mechanismen der Uralten gegen die anstürmenden Dämonenhorden verteidigen. Parallel dazu muss er in der echten Welt mehr über die Person herausfinden, die ihm das Leben gerettet hat.

Falk bleiben nur noch wenige Tage, um das Holzschwert im Land der Elfen zu finden. Außerdem muss er in der Hauptstadt Bericht über den Abschluss seiner Quest erstatten und herausfinden, wieso das Kaiserreich jemanden benötigt, der die Mechanismen der Uralten kontrollieren kann. Derweil erscheinen in der Realität immer mehr Abgesandte der Götter Arktaniens. Das führt zu gewaltigen Spannungen.

Doch er würde es Falk für eine Gefälligkeit in der Realität überlassen. Eine Gefälligkeit, die von Falk den Einbruch in eine gesicherte Einrichtung und den Diebstahl eines gut bewachten Gegenstands erfordert. Wie gut, dass unser Held gelernt hat, die Elektrizität zu kontrollieren.
