Un maggio poco assolato. La telefonata giunge mentre Libera è in ufficio: sua madre Luigia è morta. Il ritorno al paese natio non può essere più triste. Dopo il funerale Monica, quasi per caso, ritrova una vecchia scritta incisa nella pietra e così inizia un viaggio nel passato che le svela ciò che sua madre non le ha mai rivelato.
