It's a hard life for a young mortal girl, living on the streets. After Lee Jia narrowly escapes a fate worse than death, her last ditch effort to flee her pursuers and survive the winter finds her accidentally enrolled in a brand-new academy for immortals. With Yan Yue and the Awakening Dragon sect's plots thwarted for now, Lee Jia and An Eui can finally find some time to relax. After some rest and recuperation, they are ready to return to their training just in time for an upcoming tournament, but not all is well. Old enemies are out for revenge, new ones are lurking in the shadows, and their personal problems are becoming increasingly hard to ignore. The girls will have to work harder than ever to come out on top, and discover what it truly means to share a Path.

After Eunae's tumultuous ascension results in her being crowned queen, Goryeo joins the Jiaguo Empire, splitting the continent in two. Yoshika barely has time to adjust to Eunae joining as another aspect before the sleeping giant of Qin makes their move. Meanwhile, with war looming, Yue must confront her own feelings as she searches for a way to unite the rival empires.

With the annexation of Yamato and Yoshika crowned as the empress of Jiaguo, their abilities as rulers are put to the test. At home, Jia and Yue must contend with suitors from Qin, including a familiar face and a truly unexpected offer from on high. Abroad, Eui once more returns to Goryeo to solidify alliances and support Eunae's upcoming ascension. Meanwhile, the children are growing up fast and looking to prove themselves as worthy successors to their superlative "big sisters." It's all too much for one person, but with her friends—and her selves—for support, Yoshika rises to the challenge.

In the aftermath of the expeditions against the Bloody Sovereign's Tomb and the demonic enclave, Yoshika begins to rebuild the academy as a new power, independent from the other nations. Amidst their efforts, Kaede must investigate the unrest in her homeland of Yamato, as well as her new role as an aspect of Yoshika. Meanwhile, Eui returns to Goryeo to confront her own past as a former bandit and establish a treaty between her former and current homes.

After reuniting with their friends in Qin, Jia and Eui are welcomed to the Spiritual Flowing Purewater Sect as honored guests, but their peaceful reprieve is not to last. Yan Yue's upcoming wedding has drawn the attention of Qin's ruling class, who are using the gathering as a pretense to hold a summit to determine the future of the empire.

Jia and Eui, as the representatives of the tentative new alliance between Yamato and Goryeo, must travel to the hostile Qin Empire to make their case for a unified front against the otherworldly invaders—and maybe save their best friend from an arranged marriage in the process. But getting there is going to be a bigger challenge than they ever expected. Along the way, they'll meet new friends and old enemies and learn to challenge their assumptions about other people—and themselves.
