Quaxi, der berühmte Wetterfrosch sagt jeden Tag im Fernsehen das Wetter voraus. Nach getaner Arbeit hat er bei seinem Freund Herrn Nowotny ein zuhause gefunden. Herr Nowotny arbeitet als Museumswächter und hat Quaxi dort ein gemütliches Heim eingerichtet, mit Hängematte versteht sich. Die Eltern von Quaxi haben ihren Sohn schon lange nicht gesehen und machen sich Sorgen. Deshalb beschließen Quaxi, Herr Nowotny und Otto der Wetterhahn die Eltern in Spanien zu überraschen – und auch Lisbeth, in die Quaxi verliebt ist. Doch was ist los am Heimatteich, es droht große Gefahr.

Ganz aufgeregt berichtet Otto der Wetterhahn, daß dem Seerosenteich und damit auch Lisbeth große Gefahr droht. Die neue Gastwirtschaft vom Huber Bauern läuft nicht so, wie Herr Huber sich das vorstellt. Deshalb hat der Huber Bauer die Idee, daß eine besondere Spezialität, die es weit und breit nicht gibt, viel mehr Gäste anlocken würde. Und was kann das für eine Spezialität sein, wenn ein Froschteich in der Nähe auf seinem Land liegt? Doch die Frösche sind schlau und haben Freunde.
