Dragnet, the popular American radio series airing from 1949-1957, is arguably the most famous and influential police procedural drama in media history. Enacting the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday and his partners gave audience members a feel for the boredom and drudgery, as well as the danger and heroism, of police work.

The search for Max Tyler, a friend of Sergeant Friday who pulled an armed robbery. He escaped from jail and shot Ben Romero! Detective Sergeant Friday is assigned to Robbery Detail. Two armed bandits have robbed a large jewelers store in his city. One of the suspects escapes, but one is apprehended and identified as a friend of Friday’s. It’s Friday’s job to send him to prison.

A gang of four robbers and their puppy have come to Los Angeles from San Francisco, planning to pull a job. They’re armed, reckless, and cold-blooded. It’s Friday's job to get them. A long stake-out with an alcoholic desk clerk provides results.

A stuttering robber and his partner are tracked down with the help of a stoolie, who is trying to go straight.

Three robbers pull a jewelry store job in San Diego and get away with $135,000 worth of hot ice. They are believed to be heading towards Los Angeles.

Two little girls, aged seven and 11, are missing. Their pet collie is found beaten to death. Foul play is suspected. Detective Sergeant Friday is assigned to Robbery Detail. A holdup has been committed in a neighboring city. A bystander is shot to death and two others are wounded. The bandits are ruthless and well-armed, and it's Friday’s job to get them....

The cops search for a big blonde who shoots her victims in cold blood. Is this possibly a man in woman's clothing? Detective Sergeant Friday is assigned to Robbery Detail. Sixteen persons have been robbed and beaten senseless. The victims described the assailant as a tall, beautiful woman. It's Friday’s job to stop her.

A homicidal maniac who uses a brick-bat is on the loose. A large dragnet slowly gets him cornered. Also: A mad killer is loose in the city. In every instance, he leaves the murder weapon behind, but there are no fingerprints or clues to the killer's identity. Detective Sergeant Joe Friday has been assigned to Homicide, and it's his job to get the killer before he strikes again.

Thomas Stanford confesses to robbing a store, but Sgt. Friday proves that he was at work at the time of the robbery!

A lunatic has been making false police calls and has caused a serious accident. His weapon is a 10-cent piece.

A string of safe burglaries breaks out in LA. For the past two months 35 safes have been broken in to. The police know that there is more than one man in the operation, but they do not have any leads to the thieves’ identities. 

A bank robber using a sawed-off shotgun is traced through the first three digits of his license plate number.

An old man, poorly dressed, robs a liquor store and is very apologetic about it.

A gang of vicious Hitch-Hike Bandits are committing assaults, robberies, and attempted murders. Their victims are army officers stationed in the city. After one of the victims is killed by the gunmen, a manhunt is on.
