After years as the Free States of Caldia's most lethal weapon, all I want is to study magic at Stoneway Academy and find something resembling a normal civilian life. The Great War against the Democratic Republic of Auropa has finally come to a ceasefire, but tensions haven't necessarily died down overnight.

I stopped a demon-possessed warship and saved a kingdom. Surely a quiet semester at magic school isn't too much to ask? Apparently it is. A demon queen from my war days has started haunting my dreams, and she's got plans for the portal to hell sitting right under Stoneway Academy. The paladins say everything's fine. The headmistress says the ancient tree keeping the demons sealed is perfectly healthy. Meanwhile, I'm waking up smelling like brimstone and watching corruption spread through the school's roots.

Victor, better known as the super villain Magneron, always played by those rules. He fought the bad fight, got beat, and got paid. And that worked well for him and the many women who loved him. What it didn't work for was the Guild of Villainous Foes, the premiere bad guy organization on the planet!

When keeping the world safe from horrors from beyond the veil, you have to expect the unexpected. Like the mayor and her coven of witches trying to recruit your girlfriend. Or the new drug on the streets turning people into mushroom-infested monsters. Or the FBI working overtime to cover up half a cornfield going missing. But, oh well. Keeps life interesting, if nothing else.

He didn’t stitch together monsters with parts 'recycled' from the local graveyard. Why, he barely allowed himself a maniacal laugh or two! And yet, he still somehow ended up getting kicked out of university, banished from the family estate, and inheriting a decrepit castle high in the mountains of Eastern Europe, complete with a spooky but devoted maid.
