Rock and Roll continues to thrive in Memphis and is the dominant genre for many Memphians, particularly those living in Midtown Memphis. Gonerfest has been held every September since 2004. Midtown has two great record stores - Goner Records and Shangri-la Records and a host of noted studios that include Ardent, Sam Phillips and Sun.
