It's been four months since Tippy, Uncle Pike and Devon were together for Christmas. Now back for the first anniversary of Tippy's father's death, the Nancys are reformed when Riverstone is rocked by an early morning explosion that kills three people and destroys the town hall. A new case is born, and once again, it is up to the Nancys to go against the flow and ignore police orders to get to the truth. It's great to be back in Nancy business, but this time it's all different.

Tippy Chan is eleven years old, and she lives in a small town in a very quiet part of New Zealand. Her Uncle Pike and his new boyfriend Devon are looking after her while her mum is on a Christmas cruise. Tippy can’t get enough of her uncle’s old Nancy Drew books. So, when her teacher’s body is found beside Riverstone’s only traffic light, it looks like Tippy’s moment has arrived.

An odd group gathers for an English country house weekend party: a sickly host, a disgraced socialite, an amateur detective and her nephew, a murderous couple, an ex-army captain, and a former militant suffragist countess. The table is set for eight. By Sunday, only half the cutlery will be required, and Saturday's tablecloth will be used as a shroud. Cut off by a storm, their host is found dead in circumstances mirroring the death of Lady Alice's husband. There is no way out, while a killer walks amongst them.
