Robert Anderson was the second assistant commissioner (crime) of the London Metropolitan Police from 1888 to 1901 and a theologian and writer. The Coming Prince is a classic study of the book of the prophet Daniel. It closely examines every aspect of prophecy related to the Antichrist or "Man of Sin". 

 The Silence of God is a classic written by Sir Robert Anderson in 1897. In it, the Scottish theologian discusses the oft-answered question, "Why does God not intervene in the affairs of men"?

Sir Robert Anderson (1841-1918) was an Assistant Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police. This book is his response to F.W. Farrar who had dismissed the historical claims of the book of Daniel according to the method of "higher criticism". Anderson argues that the book of Daniel was indeed written by Daniel, a Jewish official in the Babylonian and Persian court.

In this work, the well-known apologist Sir Robert Anderson examines spiritual phenomena like glossolalia by searching the Bible and taking history into account. He argues that the theology of the "gift of tongues movement" reveals enormous ignorance and that it perverts Scripture. As an example, he cites Pentecost and how the glossolalists’ observance of it subordinates the core events to secondary ones of limited worth.

Still in print 150 years after it was first published, this book is just as helpful and enlightening as it was then.
