War rages in the north. As the Varin Knights march to join Tukor in their conflict against Rasalan, Elyon Daecar finds himself embroiled in a world of secrets and lies. Saska has one goal: to assassinate Lord Kastor. Posing as a captured servant girl, she infiltrates the Kastor warcamp to face her demons, but before long finds herself hopelessly out of her depth. Enemies close in, old and new…and history has a habit of repeating itself.

Brie has finally married Adryan. She's finally made it to the High Tower. And now, there's nothing to do but complete her mission. Surrounded by enemies, she soon finds that she has very few friends in her new home. And within a single day of arriving, she's facing tests of her new powers that will make or break the mission. Standing in the church outside of the city, Brie is still in shock. She has a brother, a twin. She isn't alone after all.... Her world is changing fast. And soon, it'll be her turn. As her powers begin to manifest and her training begins, Brie finds herself trying to juggle her changing body with her mission. A mission that she doesn't truly understand. Soon, however, the truth of what she's been tasked to do will dawn. And as another attack from the Fanatics rocks the city, Brie finds herself drawn into making a terrible choice.   

After the fall of the great Vandarian fortress of Dragon's Bane, Elyon Daecar gathers his army in the Lakelands to the north. They have suffered a great defeat. Heroes and friends have fallen. Through the spreading darkness, thin shards of light remain. They must act quickly lest they close forever. Saska's time in Aram has run out. With the city safe from the coalition of Lords Krator and Kastor, she sets her sights on her journey north, bidding her dying grandmother farewell. She has no choice now but to embrace her fate.

Elyon and Saska have been reunited at last—now the hard work begins. Training as they travel, they must put aside their desire in the face of their duty. The heir of Varin has one blade only. One of five. And the others are moving. Trapped in the depths of the earth, Jonik must find his way out to salvation. He is not alone.
