When a wish is looked upon as a subtle seed of one's calling to unravel the learning process, it is fulfilled irrespective of the challenges that exist ahead. Since your wish is in the interest of others more than yours alone, it is the others who, with the assistance of the Universe, pave your route to your goal. Sometimes, their perceived interest may be vile, but since you do not see what they do, your wish sustains it's goodness and so do you.

This manuscript is a personal compilation of my life experiences. Moments in life can be beautiful and torturous. This set of works illuminates both feelings. From becoming a woman to motherhood to losing my father, I recollect my emotions—then and now—as real, raw, and honest.

Building Bridges is an anthology showcasing my journey into micro poetry, featuring my previously published haiku, tanka, and tanka prose. Within, I explore small moments from my own backyard and childhood, drawing inspiration from the majestic snow-covered mountains and volcanoes in the North Cascades, as well as the towering giant trees that surround me. The ever-present view of the Puget Sound, which I witness daily while teaching young students, and the rhythmic ocean waves of the Pacific blue, further contribute to the tapestry of my poetic musings.

Creative Lady celebrates the creative talents of my dear wife, Helen Tochen, through the multimedia and multi-disciplinary use of prose, poetry, photographs, and paintings. Helen has never spoken of her many accomplishments in her professional life, family life, or creative life.
