Scott Peeples lives in Charleston, SC, where he teaches courses on American literature, Gothic literature, and academic writing at the College of Charleston. He has written three books on Edgar Allan Poe, including The Afterlife of Edgar Allan Poe, which traces Poe’s reputation through the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries; and, most recently, The Man of the Crowd: Edgar Allan Poe and the City, a compact biography that takes readers into the cities that shaped Poe’s career and writing. He is also co-editor of The Oxford Handbook to Edgar Allan Poe.
