Se da una fusión entre lo real (descripción de ambientes, relaciones entre personajes...) y lo fantástico que dota al relato de verosimilitud. El relato que nos ocupa es una muestra de humor absurdo aunque cargado con una fuerte dosis de crítica a una sociedad obsesionada con la apariencia y el ascenso en la escala social.
