The Phoenix Mercury had a disappointing 2026 relative to their standard, yet Alyssa Thomas continued to be something the WNBA has never seen.

A 14.3 PPG, 8.5 APG, 7.8 APG, 1.3 SPG campaign for most would be a career year, but for Alyssa Thomas it was just consistency — and is likely one she isn’t “fully” proud of due to the teams performance and her desire to compete for a championship, not just make the Playoffs.

That standard and mindset is why she is who she is in the pantheon of women’s basketball, and, though this season left a lot to be desired from Phoenix, we’ll be contextualizing what another dominant season for Alyssa was.

Gil, Stephen, and Kevin take a closer look at the 2026 campaign from Alyssa Thomas. Follow the show: @PHNX_Mercury, @GilMcGregor_, @StephenPG3 and @KevoPosts!

Kahleah Copper and the Phoenix Mercury had a rollercoaster of a 2026 season.

Expectations were high, as well as the energy to start the season. However, after an emphatic statement win against the Las Vegas Aces to start the season, the team sputtered, but Kahleah Copper’s ascent began.

She may have stumbled out of the starting blocks but her growth and dynamic grew more profound, independent of any variance in team production. How can Kahleah Copper’s 2026 season with the Phoenix Mercury be assesed?

Follow along as Gil, Stephen, and Kevin document and detail all that was the 2026 campaign from Kahleah Copper. Follow the show: @PHNX_Mercury, @GilMcGregor_, @StephenPG3 and @KevoPosts!

The Phoenix Mercury’s 30th season came to an end Thursday, as they finish the year with 16-28 record after a loss to the Las Vegas Aces. The game itself was interesting, as Phoenix trailed by as many as 31 points before cutting the deficit to single digits to make things interesting late.

After a trip to the Finals in 2025, the Mercury will not compete in the postseason, bringing about questions for the franchise’s future. PHNX Mercury’s Stephen was on hand for Friday’s exit interviews, and he’ll discuss what he saw and heard with Gil and Kevin on a season lookback episode.

Follow along as they discuss comments from Nick U’Ren, Nate Tibbetts, Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas. Follow the show: @PHNX_Mercury, @GilMcGregor_, @StephenPG3 and @KevoPosts!
