Publisher's Summary
What can history's greatest breakthroughs in science and technology teach us about the future?
New Thinking: The world has never been so unstable. Now, more than ever, we need to understand our history, learn from our mistakes, and embrace science and technology as we push into the future. In his debut book, New Thinking: The Technology and Science That Transformed Our World, Dagogo Altraide of YouTube's ColdFusion breaks down the history of gamechanger breakthroughs in the world of science and technology that have shaped our modern world and will impact the future.
Disruptive technology and innovation: The Industrial Revolution was the most significant event in human history since the domestication of animals and plants, leading to 50 years of growth and development making the western world almost unrecognizable. Today another revolution is taking place, and at its core is disruptive technology and innovation. It's clear that the pace of technology is increasing rapidly, and in the past 100 years, there has been more change due to disruptive technology than we could have ever imagined. The pace of this disruptive technology revolution is swift, almost exponential, but what's the story behind it? What were those special moments in time that changed the future forever?
From the steam engine revolution to the electric world of Tesla, the first photograph to the invention of the internet, this book explores the hidden secrets of science and technology to help us understand each gamechanger that has shaped the future.
In New Thinking: The Technology and Science That Transformed Our World, you will delight in learning about and appreciate:
- How a technology can spawn a new technology and how they influence each other
- How our modern world came to be
- Our incredible modern world and potential for the future

Nice optimistic book about the future
Dagogo takes you through a history of technology and it’s impact on society from ancient times to the most recent advancements. The tone of the book gave me the same feel as reading Carl Sagan’s books on science because there’s that same sense that curiosity and a pursuit of knowledge can solve people’s problems.

Exhaustive Record of Innovations of the 100+ years
An Almost Exhaustive Record of Innovations of the last 100+ years!
I was looking for a single source for the innovations since 1900. This turned out to be the best. He has done a thorough research. With the help of trivia, sociocultural issues, accentuated with his own passion, the author enlivens those times! Divided into decades, supported by the backgrounds and foregrounds for each of those innovations, the author does a great job. Soon after completing the book I watched the video on Atari on YouTube by him. He has been chronicling the innovations! Enjoy!

Selective and shallow
Too bad I wasted a credit on this. His manuscript needs more thorough fact checking. The book is a selective and cursory review of some of the 20th centuries more significant technological advances.

Excellent book
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I expected the book to be narrated by Dagogo himself, but after going through it, they couldn't have picked a better performer. I am very familiar with most of the subject matter discussed in this book. I suspect for some, the book may feel like it's all over the place. To me the main thread was always New Thinking, if that's what you're looking for in this book. You won't be disappointed.

Required reading for the 21st century!
I have followed Mr. Altreida's YouTube videos for about 3 years. This audiobook provides the broader historical antecedents to our current technological age. Great storytelling as always.

Good recounting of history to technology
Love and highly recommend the authors youtube channel. If your looking for a historical recounting of the march of technology from the steam engine to the internet this is decent, and the reader does well. However I was hoping for more of a point or central thesis to drive things forward and tie it together, without which it starts to feel a little dry in aggregate even if the writing and performance is not dry at any particular point.

Incomplete
The first two chapters were interesting but it cut off at the end of the second chapter. I'm using a brand new Kindle Fire so I doubt that it's a hardware problem.I won't buy another Audible product

Inspiring, informative and entertaining <3
Dagogo, through his youtube channel, has taught me so much, about finance, technology, and brilliant minds. I'm an engineer, this book, personally, is so inspiring. It summarizes history and tech amazingly. Three years have gone by since publication and it feels like he was introducing the trending topics of the moment. I would've loved though, to have the one and only Dagogo, as the narrating voice in this audiobook. Have you heard him! His voice is just so soothing and perfect.

phenomenal narrative of history
I've picked up this book after finishing Sapiens and Guns, Germs and Steel. And I was pleasantly surprised on this very unique take on the history thru the tiny stories of the great minds of the last few hundreds years. I loved the way the book ends summarising how the boulder has started rolling and picked up speed. There are many ways one can look at what's happened and what might happen in future. This one is a geek's take which I found quite inspiring and reassuring.

History of our modern technology
A look back at the most groundbreaking inventions, forming the basis of todays modern and prosperous society.
This book touches on the development of countless different technologies, and the longer in-depth accounts are often deeply fascinating. The shorter 1-2 paragraph entries however, while still nice for the sake of historical completion, can feel a bit superfluous.

Outstanding
If you are looking for a joyous synopsis of technology through the 20th/21st centuries, look no further. I enjoyed this immensely.
I purchased the audio book and although I forgot about it quickly, the only thing missing was that Dagogo didn't narrate it himself - although I am sure this was for the sake of the American market.

Amazing book
I loved listening to this book. its a great piece by Dagogo. the only down side to me is being narrated by American rather than Dagogo himself since I'm a massive fan and old time subscriber to Cold Fusion YouTube channel but I understand its probably to reach wider audience and Ron did a great job narrating this book.

An inspiring look back to inspire the way forward.
A really interesting look back at poignant moments in history. A lot of well researched pieces and discovering people and moments I had never knew of before. The ones that I did know of were broadened and expanded my prior knowledge.
If you know of Cold Fusions channel I highly recommend this. I still recommend if you hadn’t. Then go look him up ‘cause he’s brilliant.
