Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Jon Acuff, a book for those who want relief from always starting and never being done.

Jon Acuff, sought-after speaker and consultant, is the friend who always gives you great advice. With his self-deprecating humor and charm, he has won over hundreds of thousands of followers who come to him for both encouragement and a kick in the pants. Now, after showing you how to reboot your career in his New York Times best seller Do Over, Acuff shows chronic starters how to actually finish their goals in an age of bottomless distractions and endless opportunities.

Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Drawing on his popular 30 Days of Hustle course, Acuff teaches listeners to short-circuit perfectionism and make it through to the end of a task. Whether it's by "choosing what to bomb" or "cutting a goal in half", he shows listeners how to move past "the day after perfect", get focused, and - finally - finish.

The science of getting things done - Amazing Book

if the gains of not finishing a task outweighs the gains you receive by finishing a task then this book might be useless for you.

Done is better than perfect.

Liked the book, it showed why we suck at finishing.
it talked about diffrent methods which can be used to overcome problem of not finishing.
1. Use data for your progress it will motivate and show how far you have reached.
2. Devide start in measurable sub task.
3. Keep the distractions away.
4. avoid another awesome idea until you finish what's in hand currently.

Fun book with practical, real-life advice

This is such an easy book to listen to. The author is clearly passionate about what he is speaking about. The concepts are presented in such an easy-going, fun manner that it's very easy to miss important points as they come along. Hence, I'd recommend listening multiple times in order to identify the principles listed down in the book. For the same reason, it would have been so much better if a "cheat-sheet" of the main principles could have been made available by Audible along with the audiobook. There is so much detail & action-points in the book that if you really plan to implement whatever the book talks about, you'll have to buy the book as well.

Should be titled ‘Patience’ instead of ‘Finish’

This audiobook should be titled ‘Patience’ instead of ‘Finish’ for the sheer amount of patience it takes to listen to Jon Acuff talking absolute drivel or crap if you prefer.

His desire to sound funny makes him take you around in circles, trying to describe 5 things at the same time. Ends up making no sense at all. Infact I can make more sense listening to cars honking in Mumbai traffic than he does in this book.

The only thing he is clear about is what people do wrong. But if I wanted to listen to what I do wrong in life, I would just call my ex girlfriend. It wouldn’t even cost me an Audible credit.

As regards a solution, beyond saying focus and prioritise, there is nothing more. But hey, you get to hear about his Table Tennis game ! That’s besides the point that it has no bearing on what he spoke about before he described that instance. Or after.

I ‘Finish’ed’ this audiobook at 3:17hrs of 4:59hrs. Could not take it anymore.

People who have given this book 4/5 star reviews on Goodreads and Audible, what were you smoking ?!
