Publisher's Summary
The tiny Swedish island of Sandhamn has always been a haven for lawyer Nora Linde. With trouble brewing in her marriage, she finds its comforts more welcome than ever, even in the depths of winter. That is, until her two young sons trip across a severed arm in the woods.
The boys' gruesome discovery will once again connect Nora with her childhood friend Thomas Andreasson, now a local police detective. When the limb is identified as belonging to a twenty-year-old woman who disappeared without a trace months earlier, what had been a missing persons case takes on a whole new urgency.
Nora and Thomas delve deeply into the woman's final hours, each of them wrestling not only with the case but with the private demons it awakens in them. As they do, they'll find themselves drawn into the history of Sandhamn and the tensions that have been simmering just below the surface for more than a hundred years.

This one ends in a cliffhanger!
I prefer not to listen to a serialized series (one where the all of the novels except the final one end in cliffhanger situations) until all of the series has been published. The Sandhamn Murders series was not serialized until the third novel, Guiltless, ended with a major unresolved issue. I look forward to the next Sandhamn Murder book.
This series should be read in order written in part because the first chapters of Book 2 completely gives away the plot of Book 1.
Guiltless is the best book in the series to date; it earns five stars. Narration is still by Angela Dawe. Maybe I've become accustomed to her; he narration is excellent.

Series Bogs Down
On the up side the narrator has really improved from the choppy robotic quality of the earlier books. Dawe is even able to do different voices for the characters now. This make it much better for listening.
On the other hand I think I'm giving up on this series. It has become too plodding and on the edge of tedious for me. I hated all the graphic child abuse depicted in the flashback chapters. Then if you add in the odd and abrupt cliffhanger ending the whole thing just lost me.

Riveting
Sandhamm Murders are best heard with a large coffee mug, trail mix and a weekend of no interruptions. Trying to guess whodunnit is so kuch fun. The story was very heartbreaking and the cliffhanger! Buying the next one now!

Norah weeps
A long, boring tale with wimps as the “heroes.”
Wish that Thomas and Nora would grow a pair.

Woo boy, this one gives you all the feels!
I have been enjoying this series and following the lives of police detective Thomas and his childhood best friend, Nora. This one was told from the POVs of several ppl, including one from 1/2 century before. As usual, the author makes you wonder how the different stories will be relevant to the murder investigation. The old POV will break your heart! When all is said and done, it all comes together to solve the mystery.

Lost me
I struggled to keep reading. Confusing changes of protagonists and characters. Could not like or identify with them as in previous books in series. Won't continue on

Revenge is best served cold.
Nora Linde thinks of Sandhamn Island as a haven. With her marriage falling apart and her husband having an affair she takes her sons for a retreat on the island.
Playing in the woods her sons find a buried arm buried under the ground. The search is on for the murderer of a twenty year old woman who disappeared months earlier.
A great mystery series with intricate details and characters. Angela Dawes I a great narrator.

I love this entire series
I have loved this series from day 1! I think the development of the characters has been wonderful. The stories are well written and the description of the islands and areas leads one to want to go and see the beauty in person. I’m in my 70s, worked in a library for most of my adult life and I tell everyone who enjoys an intriguing mystery/thriller to please immerse themselves on to Sandhamm Island. I am forever a Sten fan. New series to begin soon! I shiver.

Not for me
Personally I hated the historical account of the boy being systematically abused by his father. Painful to read. Enjoyed the first few books much more. Will continue to read the series though.

Great novel; sad story
Great storytelling. I really like the central characters in the Sandham novels, and the island really comes alive. However the tale of domestic violence and its intergenerational consequences was gut-wrenching. Hoping the next one isn't so sad...
