About this listen
Brighton Longfield is kinda bad at life. She's divorced, childless, and she just got fired...again.
With dwindling savings and few prospects, she packs her possessions into a U-Haul and sets out for the little town of Coventry, where she inherited a dilapidated old house from her Great Aunt "Mad" Maude Tuttlesmith.
Coventry is supposed to be a stop in the road for Brighton. The plan is to fix up the house, sell it, and then figure out what to do with her life. You know what they say about the best-laid plans....
Coventry isn't your typical small town. At one time, it was home to two powerful families of witches. But, the Skeenbauer and Tuttlesmith families couldn't put their differences aside, and eventually, the feuding drove the Tuttlesmith witches out of town.
The matriarch of the Skeenbauer family isn't pleased to have a descendant of the Tuttlesmith witches return. The thing is, the Tuttlesmiths stopped practicing magic when they left Coventry, and Brighton has no idea she's a witch. She's about to get a big surprise.

This one is a new series I came across on Audible and I didn't know what to expect from this but I certainly have become an instant fan of this book.
So Brighton thinks she's just moving into a dilapidated house left by her great aunt and she's completely unaware of not only her legacy as a witch but also that the same town has other witch family which has been an enemy to her family and they don't want her in town.
I loved finding out about new things, both Mystical and mysterious along with Brighton and her familiar, Meri the cat whom Brighton is just not ready to accept as the cat who can talk.
Imagine Brighton not only making a new bestie, Annika who's amazing and her cousin, Remy (Um, is there silently something cooking there for Remy towards Brighton 😉) and they are such darlings in not only helping Brighton out but so many things about their family she isn't aware of.
When there's a sudden crime that happens immediately after Brighton has arrived in town, it's obvious that fingers are pointed in various directions.
What with the town's sheriff being both hot and cold and also giving hints to being interested in Brighton. But he's a bit infuriating with how vague he is. I'm so wanting to see though, who wins Brighton over.
The mystery is brilliantly interspersed with the secrets of Brighton's own past and it's almost like an adventure ride with finding secret magical spell books and thiefs on the prowl and something else lingering in the shadows.
I had fun listening to this one and especially loved the narrator, Rebecca Mitchell.
That ending was so cute but also, my goodness raises questions both of who might Brighton be inclined more towards and what was that about the Ghost taking Brighton to a cemetery nobody had seen yet. Can't wait to find out more in the next one. Loved this one. ♥️♥️♥️
I'm here for this exciting start of a witchy ride 😍
