Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed.

Would you listen to Murder House again? Why?
no, uhh I know who did it now...
Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder and Therese Plummer ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Really enjoyed the narration and would try a book based on their narration.
Any additional comments?
I hate courtroom dramas. I hate books where someone is falsely charged with a crime. They are just obvious time consumers and a lazy way to move the story along. This book had both. Fortunately, it also had a good story after these, then of course they had to throw it all in again. I made it through, tho. In the end it was worth the credit, but a bit of a disappointment.

Brilliant
What made the experience of listening to Murder House the most enjoyable?
Brilliant book, James Patterson kept me guessing right to the end, I kept swapping around to who I thought did it and what the ending would be! I almost burnt the dinner because I wanted to listen to the end. I have to be honest I do fast forward the really gruesome bits but don't feel I miss out on the plot.
Any additional comments?
I used to read JP booked all time until Swimsuit which I found too gruesome it put me off reading any other of JP's books but now I have found the audio versions it is great you just ff any bits you don't want to listen to. Murder House exceeded my expectations.

Don't be put off by the initial male narrative
The initial male voice along with over the top dramatic music almost made me ditch this one. Glad I stayed with it though, the music is only for a couple of moments during the introduction and while I still really couldn't take to the male narrator he doesn't play a massive part and the female one is excellent. The story itself is good, although I guessed the twist it didn't ruin it for me. Overall I would recommend.

It is hard to point out just one.

I never listened to any of Jay Snyder and Therese Plummer performance before, but I would really love to in the future. My favorite is Jay Snyder now. A Good Story, But ...
I really was excited to download this story from Audible. I’m a huge fan of several of James Patterson’s books and I find his stories absorbing. I enjoyed the story very much but there is one minor detail that I know is fussy but I just can’t get over, the female character repeats the phrase “I say” after almost every sentence she speaks. I know it’s a small issue but after investing over eight hours into listening to this story, by the end I was half mad with hearing it. To the point where it irritated me so much that it lessened the impact of the finale. The story itself was absolutely brilliant and I loved the twists and turns but it just goes to prove that if one little thing (in this case so small it’s embarrassing) annoys you and distracts your attention then all the enjoyment gets sucked out of it. I’ll return to my standard favourites of Patterson’s, First To Die, Violets Are Blue and Honeymoon. Sadly, this book will be returned to audible as I know I can’t bare to listen to it again.

Enjoyed it but probably wouldn't read again
Let me first say I enjoyed this book. I've read alot of Patterson's early work but got bored of the series, so when I saw he released a stand alone novel I was keen to give it a go. I listened until the end determined to know who did it. I found it predictable and saw the ending coming but still enjoyed seeing how it all was resolved. I found the main female character to be very frustrated and found myself talking out loud at times (lots of "no dont do that"!). At times I thought about giving up and finding a new book but I felt compelled to keep going just to see i'd guessed correctly (I did). I don't think I could listen again but overall a decent whodunnit story with enough twists and turns to keep you wondering and thinking.
