Life changing Spiritual Teacher showing path to Enlightenment.
- By mz on 12-09-20
Publisher's Summary
What is the most essential trait for an effective healer or teacher? Intelligence, skill, and compassion are important, explains Eckhart Tolle, but without presence, our work in service of others falls short of its potential.
Practicing Presence is a retreat for health practitioners, educators, spiritual teachers—or anyone who shares wisdom—offering more than seven hours of Eckhart’s practical advice for those fostering transformation in others.
Covering a wide range of challenges and concerns specific to the helping professions, Eckhart discusses:
- Rooting one’s work in stillness to become “a teacher of presence.”
- Finding the balance between structure and formlessness in your teaching or healing modality.
- The question of readiness for the would-be teacher or healer.
- Financial considerations and the inherent egoic risks of charging money for services.
“To be there as nobody special—simply as a field of awareness—that’s the essence of being a successful healer or teacher,” explains Eckhart. For anyone working to support the well-being of others, Practicing Presence brings you an empowering series of pointers and guidelines for lasting transformation and healing.
Please note that due to the environment in which these talks were recorded, the listener may notice some extraneous noise or hiss. This should not significantly affect the overall delivery of Eckhart's teaching.

Poor sound quality!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would not recommend this audio book, because the sound quality is very poor. As usual, Eckhart Tolle does an exceptional job, but the sound level is way too low and not real clear.

Tolle at his best
This is a very helpful guide for people in the service business that have come to a level of awakening. How to bring this new awareness into your work and life. Tolle brings his presence into this workshop in a remarkable way and guides you into being more present yourself while listening to his teachings. The audio quality is absolutely acceptable and one can hear him clearly. If you are looking for a helping hand to infuse your work and life with a level of awareness of the highest standard, this is it!

Awesome Tolle!!
Would you listen to Practicing Presence again? Why?
Yes many times, because, with Tolle it is about grasping a concept and you might not get it the first time as you might not be ready, this book will be very helping in helping others going through trauma and pain, so th emore I listen to it th emore I can retain.
What did you like best about this story?
The lessons on presences and spaciousness.
What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Eckharts audio are much bett than reading because you can feel the inflection and understand and absorb better listening.
Any additional comments?
The comments about the audio has not affected my listening to this, it hasnt bothered me at all, there were a couple of times where you hear some type of noise such as maybe his mouth brusing the mic, but honestly it is a live recording. I wouldnt let that stopme from buying this great audio book.

Out of Form into Energy
Where does Practicing Presence rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the top with some of the other Eckhart Tolle audiobooks. He is an incredible teacher, teaches by guided energy not form.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Taking you out of form
Any additional comments?
Amazing journey.

Powerful, uplifting and thought provoking.
This is my 5th or 6th book of Eckhart's, having started with The Power of Now. I was hoping that it wouldn't be repetitive and just rehashing what's already been said and I'm not disappointed at all. I had several more 'a-ha' moments with Practicing Presence and it's really helping me to bring what I connect with during meditation and quieter periods into my interactions and more frantic parts of life.
Thankyou Eckhart you really are a prophet of our times, I'm going straight back to the start now as I enjoyed it so much!

Depends on how well you can look inside yourself, I found this book intresting & helpful.
Tolle talks alot from his experiences which I find extremely intresting, not all of the theory's are actually scientifically proven but I would agree with most of his theories.

A good set of teaching talks
A fairly good set of teaching type talks delivered by the author over different occasions. These are arranged by topics. I liked the way they were presented because they were easy to grasp and still relevant after some years since delivery. I also like how he encourages one to keep going back to the basics, being present, reliving suffering, etc. A good addition.
