Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up. We did everything together. He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire...and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts. I promised I’d wait for him.... But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul - turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

Publisher's Summary
Allie Sutton just got a new job.
Not one she wants, and definitely not one she's prepared for. She hadn't seen her dad in years, so the last thing she expects upon his sudden death is to inherit the thing he loved more than anything (or anyone)...the professional football team he owned for the last 20 years.
Luke Pierson does not want a new boss.
What he wants is to be a good father to his daughter, the best quarterback possible for his teammates. What he doesn't need is a blonde bombshell ruining the team's chances at another championship. Especially when that bombshell turns out to be his new neighbor. The neighbor he was a complete jerk to the first time they met.
For the sake of the team, they treat each other like complete professionals. In public, at least. Behind closed doors, it's a different story. And the fallout of giving in to that heat is something neither one of them can see coming.
Contains mature themes.

Blown Away by this Bombshell Romance
I absolutely fell in love with this book, savored listening to every word, I truly did not want it to end. The narration was absolutely fantastic, it was my first time listening to Troy Duran and his deep, rumbling voice was perfect for Luke. Melissa Moran - was a great Allie - she really makes you feel like you are part of the story, like you are hanging out with the girls recounting stories.
The writing was full of witty banter and steamy slow burn romance. The sexual tension and buildup to the first kiss had me brimming with anticipation and it was worth it! I am a sports romance junkie and this book ticked all the boxes for me. There is something so intriguing about the sports world and this story was written so that even a non sports fan will love it! What made it even better was the strong, powerful lead female character, a woman I could look up to, taking charge and not backing down when faced with adversity.

Le swoon...
Who doesn’t live a hot, devoted, single dad? Washington Wolves QB, Luke Pierson, is THAT guy. He’s uber protective of his daughter and isn’t subtle with getting rid of groupies...which is why he’s exceptionally rude to his new neighbor. Only to later discover that said neighbor is the new owner of his team...yep, his boss. However, chemistry soon replaces angst and the pair begin a fling...terrible idea, right? That won’t end well..or will it?
Cute story with great sub-characters, including an adorable 6yo.

I love Allie & Luke!
Single dad with an adorable girl and a QB for the local team. Yes please.
Single woman inherits her dad’s fortune with a football team. YES PLEASE.
I really enjoyed how Allie, surprised new owner of a football team, threw herself into her dad’s shoes. She researched, relied on his former staff and knew she had a big role to fill. Up until that point, she was a jetsetting influencer.
Luke is a quiet player. His dedication to his sport and daughter is what really keeps him going.
The meet-hate is what this couple was destined for.
I loved how story driven this was. It didn’t have a lot of drama, but the characters had their own set of issues and the paths they have and were taken.
It was interesting to see how this played out and I really liked it. I love when a story keeps speaking to me.
I also enjoyed the narration, but it’s been a while since I have heard Melissa Moran and even longer for Troy Duran, but they both did quite well. Troy is perfect as Luke.

Enjoyed
I did liked this story. I enjoyed Troy Duran and Melissa Moran’s performances. The love story of the owner of a football team and the quarter back is always a good beginning. If you like this book, read Susan Elizabeth Phillips version, It Had To Be You, which was a funnier story with less flowery wordiness. Also the performance of Anna Fields reading, It Had To Be You, was stellar. Read either book, better yet, read both, you won’t be sorry you took the time to do so.

This is the first book I’ve read by Karla Sorensen and I loved it 😍! Luke and Allie’s enemies-to-lovers story was inspiring! I loved how Allie took situations that may have caused her to become downtrodden or depressed and turned them around for her benefit with optimism and hard work! I also respected how Luke as a single parent was consistent in his love and support of his daughter and dedication to what he loved as a football player 🏈!Both Troy Duran and Melissa Moran were Fantastic narrators! Troy’s deep voice was exactly what I’d expect a footballer to sound like 🥰and Melissa’s emotional delivery was on point! Great listen 👍🏽

All I’d had of her was stolen moments like this in the dark, and she deserved so much more than that.
I will take every single stolen moment between these two! Karla Sorensen has definitely become one of my favorite discovered authors that I hadn’t read from before. This is my second title from her and while I’ve read the ebook already listening on audio has been worth the work I ditched today.
Luke and Allie have such an organic evolution of their relationship leaving everything feeling genuine and fresh. No instant love or forced romance, just them! Perfectly timed plot that will leave you so satisfied by the end you won’t even know what to do with yourself.
Allie has just inherited ownership of a football team housing Luke Pierson and they basically are hard up from the start. Fate has made them neighbors and that’s only the beginning of their journey. But I will say this, if you love sports romance and a brooding hero... LOOK NO FURTHER. Karla Sorensen has perfected the genre, do yourself a solid and listen to this one!
“...I’ll treat you with the respect you deserve as the team quarterback, but you sure as hell better do me the same courtesy as the team owner. I may still be getting my footing, but I bet I could make all sorts of trouble for you if you ever felt the need to remind me what women who look like me usually do or say in your obnoxious, golden boy presence.”

A good football romance
Such a fun book to read. Ally is an unexpected character for me. First she appeared as kind of a fluff woman, but as the story progresses she grows. I love the way her character is now. Yeah she is rich, but she's normal with it all. Luke is hot and full of yummy good sexy fun. The way he treats his little Turbo, (aka Faith) is so precious. Plus I laughed as he keeps putting dollars in the swear jar. Then little Faith did too. This book has lots of great moments and is so well written. The narrator did a lovely job. She was very easy to listen to. I highly recommend this book.

Ok with spoilers
SPOILERS
I normally love this author and this whole series. But for me, this one ranked. I just didn’t believe he loved her. He barely knew her beyond sneaking around once a week for sex. Still the first 75 percent was good. The last 25 percent just fell completely flat. I really hated the dude. He’s supposed to be the hot single dad, but he really seems to lack the ability to connect with anybody, including his daughter. And when he allows Allie to be maligned in the press because he isn’t man enough to acknowledge her publicly and lets the whole country think of her as a booty call for something like three weeks of refusing to be a man, well...ugh! He could have headed off all the nasty speculation and disrespect she was receiving just by making a statement that they knew each other prior to her taking ownership of the team, were neighbors and were in a serious relationship. Instead, he just throws her under the bus. All because he is too dumb to recognize that he has feelings for her. His epiphany, when it comes, feels more like he just realized “oh wow, I guess I didn’t think how much easier my life would be if I had another adult around to share these parenting/life burdens. It’s been kind of miserable without her for the last three weeks.” Then he proceeds to “grand gesture” the hell out of her to the tune of an entire football stadium (and country) watching it play out and NEVER says “I’m sorry I left you out to dry for all these weeks.” He says “I love you” and she literally throws herself into his manly football player arms, and I. Don’t. Get. It. I would have been so angry at him for literally making a spectacle out of her not once but twice. First with refusing to acknowledge her as anything but a booty call and then by declaring his love on national tv without even wondering for two seconds if maybe she was OVER his narcissistic butt!
When I ranted to my husband, he reminded me that some readers will eat that up. Some people value attention and showboating over sincerity. Me? I can’t stand the jerk. I wish Allie had kicked him to the curb. Which means the novel failed as a romance in my eyes. I didn’t want to see the couple end up together.

AMAZING STORYLINE!
I loved reading this book. Although I say read, it was through the audiobook that I "read" the book. Definitely not a regret to read this book and the narrators fit the characters with the perfect personality to the story that made everything flow nicely. I loved the romance in this story and while it was obvious who the romance would be about or how it would end, that's only the outline of what there is, meanwhile there is so much story to it that if I'm going to be really cheesy then I would say that this romance was like a jam donut. There is a nice outline, but always the different feelings you get when you bite into the jam and get a new burst of flavour. I would definitely recommend to those who like this genre. I loved this book!
