Jane Ashcroft walks dogs under a false name, trying to stay quiet, unnoticed, untouchable. In Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Jane thinks she's found the perfect place to disappear. The Loomis family needs someone to care for Fable, their powerful Belgian Malinois, on an estate built on privilege, money, and carefully buried truths. The job should be simple. Walk the dog. Keep her head down. Don't ask questions. But Fable isn't just another dog—and Jane soon realizes something inside the Loomis household is very wrong. The closer she gets to the family, the more dangerous her position becomes. Someone is watching her. Someone is lying to her. The one companion Jane knows she can trust is the dog at the end of her leash.Because the Loomises have secrets. And they will kill to keep them buried.Author's Note:While Secrets is the recommended starting point for the Jane Ashcroft Thrillers, each novel is a complete story and the books can be read in any order. Each story is bound to the other by the heroine, Jane, her best friend R, and her extraordinary companion, Fable. And one more thing: I’m a dog lover. I would never kill a dog in one of my books and can’t stand it when authors do. These are thrillers, so Jane and Fable do face violence and danger together. They don’t always escape completely unscathed, but they come through it together. I love Fable. He’s not going anywhere.—D.L. Maddox©2025 TIER Books LLC (P)2026 TIER Books LLC
