Publisher's Summary

Created in the Emperor's own image, the primarchs had long thought themselves to be princes of the universe and masters of their own destiny - they led the Space Marine Legions in glorious conquest of the galaxy, and no enemy of the Imperium could stand against them. However, even amongst this legendary brotherhood, the seeds of dissent had been sown long before the treacherous Warmaster Horus declared his grand heresy.

Find out the deepest mysteries of the primarchs. Who is in control of Fulgrim's body - him, or a daemon? What happens when the Alpha Legion fights against itself? Just what secrets is the Lion keeping? And what could the tragic Ferrus Manus have done to prevent himself from becoming a head shorter?

Mixed bag

Four novellas centered around different primarchs. The first two are trash, the third average and the fourth excellent. Only recommended for dedicated fans of the series. Otherwise, borrow from a friend if possible.

Last Story Was Good

I found the first two stories disappointing. The last story was an Alpha Legion story and it was well done. As always, the narrators were exceptional.

Great listen!

Great onsite into the minds of the primarchs. Learned a lot about how they all were, and what made them different.

Hit and miss shorts, as usual.

The worst parts of the HH series so far are these short story compilations. Not because they're *ALL* bad short stories, but because there are only a handful of good ones. In this issue, there are two good ones. The others are boring and inconsequential.

Was hoping there would be more

Issues with this is it feels kind of all over the place, Its an ok story do not get me wrong, but was expecting a lot more from a book that talks about the Pirmarchs.

3 great books

3 excellent short stories (no spoilers), first follow up from 'Fulgrim' about the emperor's children.
Second on Iron Hands (first time listening on anything on those) and last on Alpha Legion, you can listen to the HH book 'Legion' but it's not a must think, good performance on them all

The Lion is the best story

I have to say I found the fulgrim, ferrus and alpha legion stories quite tiresome and this book was saved only by the Lion, the narration in all 4 is very good but the stories leave left me wanting sadly

A mixed pleasure.

I liked the first novel about Fulgrim and his sons but the other two were, at least to me, long and tedious with no real backbone.

Brilliant

Brilliant. But David Timson’s role lacked performance. There were times I couldn’t tell if he was acting a legionary, or just talking about casual descriptions. However his interpretation of a mechanicum adapt was defiantly more inviting and interesting than what I have heard before

Always love hearing about Fulgrim but being given good chunks about other Primarchs was brilliant too.

strange order of books

it seems strange that the first two books aren't the other way around as events in the second are mentioned in the first. good storey overall and well performed too. well worth a credit with such a long run tine and several stories to enjoy in one purchase.

Some amazing writing. Some average writing.

Some fantastic stories. Some not so. Some fantastic narration.. Some ok. Its a good mix up to progress the stories of some of the primarchs and their legions. Definitely worth it.

Good second half

As the other reviews say the first 2 stories leave a lot to be desired, but the second half definitely make up for the slow start.
