Publisher's Summary

Anxiety - it's the worst: choking, stifling, smothering, tingling, panicking, brain cutting out, bad decisions. You're a human being, so you know exactly what's being said here.

Dr. Faith Harper lays it all out: what anxiety is, what it's good for - that's right, it's actually a necessary response that helps to keep us alive in bad situations - how to know when it's gone overboard, and practical tips on how to deal with it when it gets bad. This book is a lifesaver for panic attacks, breaking out of flight-or-fight-or-freeze responses, and for chronic anxiety. It's also good for folks who aren't daily burdened by anxiety, but want to better cope with those tough situations that affect us all. Listen to this and breathe!

Quick and concise

The book is to the point when it comes to what anxiety is, its symptoms, causes and ways to tackle it. The narrator has done a good job, her voice is soothing to the ears and the pace is apt. The only downside is too much swearing in the text. That's why 4 stars.

Light minded but serious and all too relevant.

I loved the inclusivity in the content and acknowledgement of privileges .It was heart filling to realize that I can overcome almost the entire list of symptoms that she gave and that optimism can be relearned.

Vague and Irrelevant

Nothing that a person living with anxiety hasn't experienced. Too much profanity unnecessary swearing and not a book that I found helpful in dealing with stress and anxiety. Describes the symptoms and feelings which is what everyone is already aware of.

Most embarrassing book ever consumed

Without a doubt, this is the most embarrassing book I've ever read/listened to. The author frequently employs profanity, for no apparent reason - "f" bombs, "b**tards," “A**h*les”, "sh*t" and “batsh*t. I am not a fan of profanity in books. The level of profanity in this brief book is quite distracting and prevented me from learning anything beneficial from it. If she hadn't overdone it, the same information could have been communicated in a much more compelling way and for a bigger audience. For a book this short, she made it quite difficult to finish, nothing insightful. A phd wants you to manage anxiety by “Just breath”.

How can I repair the damage done by a book I chose at random? I wasn't anxious before I picked the book, but I'm not sure about it now.

Not recommended.

More like a record talk

This book felt as if the author just recorded one of his session to a trainee. The narrator’s voice felt automated at places.

Did not like it

The amount of times fuc*ing is used makes it unbearable atleast for me! I'm not against it but when you are just listening and not reading it really hinders the experience.

Good content, bad language

The content is good and scientific, but the language is littered with 'F' word and others to the extent of tiring / boring and disgusting.
