In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few.

So begins this most beloved of all American Zen works. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what it's all about. In the years since its original publication, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind has become one of the great modern Zen classics. Suzuki Roshi presents the basics of Zen in a way that is remarkably clear and resonates with the joy of insight.

Read by Emmy-award winning narrator Peter Coyote, this audio will be listened to time and time again as an inspiration to practice.

The book is a clear, no-fluff intro to Zen and living well. Great for someone wanting to learn about this concept.

This review however, is largely for the narrator. What a wonderfully clear, calm, and steady voice! I have fallen asleep listening to this book so many times.

Good book, Excellent Narrator

It’s an interesting book on what Buddha is, and what Buddha is not. It’s rather simplistic yet too complex. The tone of the book is pretty much like my above lines. I recommend that you read this book over a period of at least a week. Let the lessons synch in.

Trippy Zen Book

I listened to it while wandering the lands of Skyrim which belongs to the Nords of course. But then again, it is a really good book for introducing yourself to the very basics of Buddhism. And it may also be the only book you read about Buddhism and still understand it completely.

It is a relaxing experience.

This book points you to truth with no extra nonsense. The book is about practice, not philosophy.

Greatest book ever written

Keep the beginner's mind forever. Iconoclastic. Inspired. Mahayana with a twist i. e. Zen.

So good. Right now.
