• Start Small. Stay Consistent. Make Change Stick.
    Jan 8 2026

This rock song and post is excerpted from Guy Kawasaki’s newsletter Remarkable People. Start small. Make a tiny win this week. Then another. Then another. Until you are making big changes that can really impact how you write and market your books.

And always keep a pocketful of joy to spread around to all the people you come in contact with.

    One Tiny Win Lyrics

Pick one tiny win this week. Not ten. Not five. Just one!

Here are a few tiny winsA 10-second habit. An anchor activity you already do.A celebration that makes you smile.A friend who keeps you accountable.

Start small. Stay consistent.Let the wins compound.

Here’s to a year built on tiny habits,Here’s to a year built on smart design,And here’s to the grit to keep goingone small step at a time!

Start small. Stay consistent.Make change stick.

Start small. Stay consistent.Let the tiny wins compound.

  • Simplify Your Life, Country Version
    Jan 6 2026

The following country song features an excerpt from a passage in Henry David Thoreau’s Walden.

    Lyrics from Walden

If one advances confidentlyin the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the lifewhich he has imagined,he will meet with a successunexpected in common hours.

He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary;new, universal, and more liberal lawswill begin to establish themselvesaround and within him;or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favorin a more liberal sense, and he will live with the licenseof a higher order of beings.

In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universewill appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, and poverty will not be poverty, and weakness will not be weakness.

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost;that is where they should be.Now put the foundation under them.

In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universewill appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, and poverty will not be poverty, and weakness will not be weakness.

  • The AIO Revolution, Gospel Version
    Dec 30 2025

A few months ago one of my friends called me desperate for advice. For years he had a top-rated website for his brand, key words, and all his great content. Google and other search engines sent him hundreds of targeted leads for his products and services. Every day!

Then it ended. Poof, his traffic was gone. Well, there was still a trickle but, for the most part, he had no real traffic.

His traffic was decimated. Gone. Kaput. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

    But why?

Because Google, Bing, and even Duck Duck Go decided to keep that search traffic for themselves.

At first, the search engines made their AI searches optional, but it wasn’t long before they decided that they could make more money running ads on their own AI-generated search results pages.

Google, Bing, and Duck Duck Go are allowing AI answers to take over their searches. And now the PerplexityAI Comet and OpenAI Atlas browsers will take over any remaining searches. And, that’s without the 50% of search traffic that has already been taken over by ChatGPT, ClaudeAI, and other chatbots — all offering such friendly and competent answers to user questions.

Do you realize that in less than six months your website visibility will go to zero?

The days of search engines being your lifeline to visibility well end. By April. April 2026. So long. Good-bye!

Many websites have already experienced a 70 to 80% drop-off in traffic. Now. Not in four months. But today.

AI adoption is exploding. According to one person, 105 million adults will use generative AI this year. That is such a low, low estimate it’s almost not worth noticing. The truth is that everyone will be using AI for search in the coming years. Everyone. Not one single holdout.

  • Happy Holidays: Special Website Marketing Tip
    Dec 28 2025

    Happy holiday season to everyone.

One thing I’d like you to focus on or understand is how important it is to share greetings to your customers, your fans, your visitors, etc. Wish them Merry Christmas. Wish them Happy New Year. Wish them Happy Valentine Day. Wish them happy Mother’s Day. Wish them Happy Independence Day. And so on.

Do it through your social media. Do it through your website.

As you’ll notice in the graphic below, 7 of the top pages on my website during the week of Christmas 2025 were pages where I share holiday greetings with my website visitors, newsletter subscribers, and social media followers. Over the years, I’ve sent many such greetings. And, as it happens, those greetings send me more visitors year after year — visitors who want to share greetings via their various social media profiles.

You can do the same. You can even repost the graphics I’ve shared over the years, and even brand them as your own. What are you waiting for?

  • Testimonials as Songs - Gospel Version
    Dec 25 2025

I received a wonderful testimonial today — and then created a gospel music version of that testimonial. This, of course, is another way to use music to promote you and your book. By the way, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

John’s guidance brings clarity when ideas feel scattered. The insights he shares are practical and thoughtful. They help turn vision into action. 1001 Ways to Market a Book has been a real resource for me. Clear, useful, and easy to apply. I’ve gained confidence, direction, and real results. And I continue to grow through his work. I’m grateful for his support, his knowledge, and his generosity. Looking forward to learning more and building even further. — Roberta Vigilance, author, Sponsorship Now, Sponsorship Misconceptions, and other books on getting sponsors for events, online and IRL

Here is the testimonial laid out as lyrics for the gospel song above. As with most songs I create with AI, I repeat some lines as a chorus to make it more song-like.

    Testimonial as Lyrics

Note: I had to spell out the title of my book so the AI performers would pronounce it correctly. So, 1001 Ways to Market Your Books became One Thousand and One Ways to Market Your Books.

I’ve been creating these songs with my lyrics or content while the music and performance are created by MurekaAI: https://www.mureka.ai/?utm_source=rewardful&via=7aa6dd

  • Living for the Real with Derek Hunter
    Dec 23 2025

Check out this wonderful new song from Derek Hunter. Note: I wrote the lyrics for this song based on a podcast episode I wrote several years ago.

    Lyrics

Don’t trade your soul for a golden chainThe clock keeps ticking but love remainsHold your dear ones close at nightLet your eyes dance in the firelight

Living for the real, walking where the wild winds blowLiving for the real, where the river sings soft and slowFeed your heart with morning dewThe world shines brighter when you do

Spend time with those you care forPlay with your children and let them scoreLaugh hard. Walk in the wood.Be kind to everyone. Do the good.

Run with your dogs, play with your catsStop your work, take off your hatsBe real. Be true. Be full of joy.Play hard. Play long. Play ships ahoy!

Living for the real, walking where the wild winds blowLiving for the real, where the river sings soft and slowFeed your heart with morning dewThe world shines brighter when you do

Never sacrifice your real life for your work. If you are like me, you can’t not work, but make sure you fit in some real life as well. Spend time with those you love. Laugh hard. Walk in the woods. Play with your cats and dogs and children. Be kind to everyone.

  • Find a Way Home, Country Music Version
    Dec 19 2025

You can create songs from your children’s books. Listen in to the song above, Find a Way Home, with the lyric excerpted from the end of Gail Berry’s children’s book, Little Fox and the Golden Hawk.

I used Mureka to create the song from Gail’s text (Mureka: https://www.mureka.ai/?utm_source=rewardful&via=7aa6dd).

You can use the song or songs to promote your book, whether a children’s book, a novel, poetry, or a nonfiction book. In the next few days, I’ll share a song from each genre that I’ve created.

Note: The lyrics below were formatted like a poem or song so the sentences and paragraphs break different from the way they appeared in the book.

    Lyrics (from the book)

It is said that on the summer solsticewhen the moon is full and high in the sky,a child may see a red fox walking in the shadowsand a golden hawk flying low.

But there is more, for this is the only legendthat ends with a promise.

The Mountain Goddess promised Little Foxthat every soul that Little Fox lovedwould find a way home.

The legend says that deep in the mountainsby the stream of crystalline waterswait Little Fox and her Golden Hawk. They wait by the stream of crystalline waters, and they call each name. So, when the moon is full, listen.Listen and you may hear them whisper your name. And, finally, you may go home.

    Chorus Added

The Mountain Goddess promised Little Foxthat every soul that Little Fox lovedwould find a way home. It’s your turn today to go home.

I added the chorus to make the text a little more song-like since most songs return to a key line or lines as a chorus.
