• ChatGPT cannot tell you who you are. Your best brand content starts with a notebook, not a prompt
    Apr 22 2026

You are not a prompt. Your brand is not an output. In this episode I unpack why going to AI before going to yourself is the biggest brand mistake you can make right now — and exactly what to do instead.

If you have ever typed "write me a bio" or "what should my brand pillars be" into a chat window and wondered why the result felt hollow, this episode is for you.

I literally just got off a discovery call before recording this where it came up again. And when I hung up I just sat there for a second because it was not the first time that week. It was not even the second. And something about that call made it really clear to me that this is not an isolated problem. Professionals everywhere are handing the keys to their identity over to AI tools and wondering why nothing they are creating feels like them. And the answer is not that the tools are broken. It is that we are skipping the most important step.

In this episode I unpack the real relationship between AI and authentic personal branding, and I make the case for going analog before you go digital. Because the most powerful prompts, the ones that actually sound like you, come after you have done the interior work. They are extensions of clarity you already have, not a replacement for clarity you have not found yet.

This is the excavation philosophy at the heart of everything I teach: your brand is not something you build, it is something you uncover. And no language model in the world can do that uncovering for you.

In this episode you will hear:

Why AI output feels generic even when you personalize it, and what is actually missing when it does. The difference between using AI as a replacement for self knowledge versus using it as an amplifier of it. How my own crack open moment, getting laid off from a corporate advertising career at the worst possible time, became the foundation of my entire body of work and what that might mean for your story. Three pen and paper practices you can do today to excavate your real brand voice before you write a single prompt. How to use each practice to build AI prompts that actually sound like you because they come from you.

This episode is for you if:

You are a founder, executive, or expert practitioner who knows your work is good but cannot figure out why your content is not landing. You have tried using AI to help with your brand and walked away feeling like something was off. You have been looking outward for your brand when the real answers have been inside you all along. You are ready to stop producing polished noise and start creating content that actually connects.

  • The Launch Pad: "It's Not Your Fault" with Seema Bhansali
    Mar 5 2026

Some of the most powerful things I’ve ever learned did not come from a course or a book. They came from someone saying the honest thing out loud, the hard and real thing they lived through. And I remember thinking, that’s me. I needed to hear that.

That’s why I created The Launchpad, a series within Launch My Brand Today. In each episode, you’ll hear a talk from someone who has lived through something hard, turned it into a message, and is brave enough to share it. Then you’ll hear the conversation we have right after they listen back to their own talk, when they realize this is not just a talk. It’s a turning point.

For our first Launchpad episode, I’m joined by Seema Bhansali, Founder of Evolve EQ Strategies, someone whose work genuinely shifts how you see yourself, your value, and the way you show up.

Seema’s message is simple and powerful:

    It’s not your fault.

She shares the moment those words landed for her in her forties while watching a masterclass on sleep and learning about chronotypes, the biological reality that not everyone is wired to function the same way. That one insight opened a bigger door: how many beliefs have we been carrying as personal failures that were never ours to carry?

In our conversation, we go deeper into:

    • How systems quietly train people to blame themselves

    • Why “accountability” often gets tangled with shame

    • A better measure of growth: progress as learning

    • Where to start if self-reflection feels new: triggers, body signals, and self-talk

    • How to use “surround sound” intentionally, including social media, to support the beliefs you want to build

One line I’m still thinking about:

If I didn’t do the thing, I learned a thing.

  • The Launch Pad: Visibility Is a Responsibility
    Feb 17 2026

In this special introduction episode, I’m unveiling something that’s been on my heart for a long time — a brand new series inside the Launch My Brand Today Podcast called The Launch Pad

Each guest brings their most distilled, powerful message — the idea they would share if they were handed a stage and a microphone. And then we unpack it together. We go deeper. We talk about what it took to say it out loud.

Because here’s what I know to be true.

When you can distill your expertise into ten minutes that make people lean in, you’ve found your throughline. And once you find your throughline, everything shifts. Your content. Your positioning. Your confidence. Your opportunities.

    That is brand work.

If you’ve ever felt like you have something to say but you’re not sure where to say it…

If you’ve ever hesitated to position yourself as an expert because self promotion feels uncomfortable…

If you’ve been waiting to feel more “ready” before stepping into visibility…

    This episode is for you.

I share why so many brilliant professionals shrink themselves. I talk about the fear of being judged, misunderstood, or met with silence. And I also share what happens on the other side of that fear.

Because I’ve seen it hundreds of times.

When someone finally owns their expertise and stops apologizing for being great at what they do, their entire energy changes. The way people respond to them changes. Doors open. Conversations shift. Authority builds.

The Launch Pad exists to accelerate that moment.

    In this episode, you’ll hear:

    • Why visibility is a responsibility, not an ego move
    • How a ten minute talk clarifies your personal brand
    • What it really means to excavate your expertise
    • Why waiting to be discovered is costing you opportunities
    • How to start thinking about your own signature talk

If you are building a personal brand, growing a business, or stepping into thought leadership, this series will show you what stepping into authority looks like in real time.

You’ll hear real people doing brave brand work out loud.

And my hope is that something inside you starts to move.

If you’re listening and thinking, “I have a talk in me…”

    You do.

This series goes beyond content, it’s a stage...and I built it for people like you.

Reach out. Tell me what your ten minutes would be about. Because the world gets better when more good people get visible. Send me a message at hello@launchmybrandtoday.com or DM me on Instagram @janissadoyama

    You deserve a launch pad.

  • Branding vs. Marketing: Don't Do it Backwards
    Feb 11 2026

What if everything you've been told about building your personal brand has been backwards? In this powerful episode, I reveal why most professionals are exhausted from "doing all the marketing things" yet still feel invisible—and I introduce a radically different approach to building a brand that actually attracts the right opportunities.

This episode challenges the conventional wisdom that branding and marketing are interchangeable. Instead, you'll discover:

    • The hidden cost of not having a clear brand – and how it shows up in who you attract, the opportunities you miss, and the exhausting cycle of justification and over-delivery
    • Why marketing is the megaphone, but branding is what you say into it – and why one without the other keeps you shouting into a void
    • The Excavation Principle: The most powerful personal brands aren't created from scratch—they're uncovered from what you've been dismissing as "too obvious"
    • How to build "personal brand insurance" – protection that no layoff, algorithm change, or industry shift can take away from you

Marketing vs. Branding: The Critical DifferenceI break down how marketing is how you distribute a message, while branding is the meaning people assign to you before you ever open your mouth. Marketing asks "How do I get seen?" while branding asks "What do I want to be known for when they're NOT looking?" Without a clear brand, every conversation becomes an uphill explanation.

The Excavation Over Creation PhilosophyI share why your brand isn't something you make up—it's something you dig up. The throughline already exists in:

    • The expertise you've been apologizing for instead of owning
    • The thing people always thank you for that you think is "just normal"
    • The pattern in every job you've loved and hated

The Real Cost of ConfusionI explain what happens when you confuse branding with marketing—you:

    • Optimize for visibility instead of resonance
    • Measure success by followers instead of depth of trust
    • Chase trends instead of anchoring into timelessness
    • Miss the opportunities where your name should be the only one that comes to mind

    1. The Excavation AuditI challenge you to record voice memo answers to these three questions:

    • What do I do that feels so natural to me, I forget it's valuable to others?
    • What do people always thank me for, even when I wasn't trying to help?
    • If I could only be known for ONE thing when I leave a room, what would it be?

    2. The Marketing DetoxI'm asking you to take seven days off from posting and content creation. Instead:

    • Have three conversations with people who know you well and ask: "What's the thing I do that you wish you could bottle?"
    • Revisit the last ten projects you loved—what's the throughline?
    • Write down the belief you have about your industry that no one else is saying

If you've been doing "all the marketing things" and still feel like you're not getting the recognition, opportunities, or clients you deserve—this episode will fundamentally shift how you approach building your visibility and reputation. I'm showing you how to stop chasing opportunities and start positioning yourself so they chase you instead.

  • If I were starting from ZERO, this is where I’d begin
    Jan 20 2026

If I were starting my personal brand from scratch today, I would do things very differently.

After 15 years of helping experts, founders, and visionaries build brands around what they already know, I’ve learned this: the biggest thing holding most people back isn’t confidence, consistency, or talent. It’s clarity.

In this episode, I share exactly what I would focus on if I were rebuilding my personal brand from the ground up with everything I know now. I walk through the three foundational moves that actually matter, why most people skip them, and how skipping them leads to burnout, invisibility, and constantly starting over.

I talk about finding your throughline, building your Brand Brain before creating content, and why gatekeeping your knowledge keeps you stuck while generosity builds trust, momentum, and opportunity.

This episode is for anyone who knows they have something valuable to offer but feels overwhelmed, unsure where to start, or tired of trying to build visibility the hard way.

You’re not creating a brand from scratch. You’re excavating the one that’s already there.

  • Beliefs You Didn’t Choose Are Running Your Brand
    Dec 4 2025

In this episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on a truth we don’t talk about enough: most of the beliefs we carry, especially the ones that limit us, were never ours to begin with. We inherited them. Absorbed them. Learned them in moments when we needed protection or approval. Then we built identities, choices, and entire futures around beliefs we never consciously chose.

Today, I’m walking you through what happens when you finally pause long enough to ask, “Why do I believe this?” Because if you can’t explain the origin of a belief, it isn’t a belief…it’s conditioning. And nothing dims your voice faster than building your life on stories that don’t belong to you.

Together, we explore how personal brand building isn’t a marketing strategy or a buzzword. It’s an inner excavation. It’s the process of stripping away borrowed narratives so you can project and amplify the truth of who you are. Your brand becomes powerful the moment your beliefs become yours, aligned, chosen, and rooted in who you’re becoming.

If you’ve ever felt invisible, stuck, or uncertain about your voice, this episode will feel like coming home to yourself. It’s a reminder that clarity doesn’t start with content. It starts with identity. And identity starts with the courage to question the script and reclaim your own story.

  • The Power of Storytelling, Purpose, and Looking Up — with author, Tom Campbell
    Nov 26 2025

In today’s episode, I sat down with Tom Campbell to talk about something we all feel but rarely slow down long enough to name. His book Gotta Look Up has been sitting with me for weeks, because it touches on something so many of us are struggling with distraction, disconnection, and forgetting what really matters in the rush of everyday life.

Tom shares the moment that inspired this book, the stories that shaped him, and the lessons he hopes to pass down through the generations. We talk about the power of storytelling, why lived experience is one of the greatest teachers we have, and how the smallest memories often become the biggest breadcrumbs we leave behind.

If you’ve been moving so fast that life feels like a blur, or if you’ve ever wondered what moments you might be missing while you’re looking down instead of up, this conversation will land exactly where it needs to.

    In this episode:

    • Why our stories carry wisdom that data and information never will

    • How distraction steals presence, connection, and meaning

    • Parenting in a digital world and the “home run moments” we cannot afford to miss

    • Redefining success through the idea of “enough”

    • What it really means to leave breadcrumbs and blaze your own trail

  • The First Pancake Always Sucks
    Nov 20 2025

You know how the first pancake is always a disaster? The pan's not hot enough, the batter spreads weird, one side is pale while the other's burnt. But you don't quit, you keep going, and by pancake three, you're making magic.

That's exactly what building your personal brand feels like.

I'm Janis, and in this episode of Launch My Brand Today, I'm giving you permission to pour that first pancake, even when it's messy, awkward, and imperfect. Because here's the truth: your first client pitch will fumble. Your first piece of content will feel forced. Your first attempt at explaining what you do will probably leave people politely confused.

And that's not a problem. That's the process.

I'm walking you through my Brand Brain framework—six questions that give you the clarity to start showing up, even before you feel ready. We're talking about crafting your 12-second pitch, defining your actual ideal client (not "everyone"), identifying the feeling you create, understanding your competition, aligning your aesthetic, and clarifying your end game.

Every person who has built a powerful personal brand did not wait for perfection. They're the ones who were willing to make imperfect pancakes while figuring out their recipe.

Because you can't get to pancake five without pouring pancake one.

Ready to start? Download The Brand Clarity Quickstart and answer these six questions imperfectly. Then go use them. Post something. Have a conversation. Show up.

Your first pancake might be burnt, but your fifth one is going to be delicious.

    Let's get cooking.
