Lizzy's social cause is The Lachlan Kean Foundation - lachlankeanfoundation.org.

Lizzy's friend Lachie sadly died of bowel cancer at the age of just 37. The Lachlan Kean Foundation mission is to raise awareness and fund research in hope for a future where bowel disease can be cured. The earlier it's diagnosed, the higher the chance of survival.

"I love being in the unknown" - Captain Jason Chambers

In this episode of Three Food Memories, Savva drops anchor with Captain Jason Chambers of Below Deck Down Under.

On the menu is: apple cake, dumplings, and tapas.

Sides include: the making of a man shaped by the sea, a spirit drawn to adventure and discovery, building a resort in the Phillipines, and musings on fatherhood to his daughter Saskia.

Jason's social cause is Classroom of Hope, whose mission it is to construct sustainable schools using upcycled materials. Through their Block Schools program, they create earthquake-resistant educational facilities while removing 1-2 tons of plastic waste from the environment per classroom.

Journalist and author Antoun Issa's new book Rebirth: A Love Story From the Depths of War has just been released. The book is about his mother's experiences of her time in Beirut in 1974 during the Lebanese Civil War and her migration to Australia.

On the menu: Ashta without rice, burnt chicken drumsticks, and cheesecake with chocolate.

Sides include: food as a tool of communication, coming out to the family, and a sprinkle of Canaanite mythology.

Antoun's social cause is free access to quality healthcare and education for all. It helps marginalised communities, it helps the millions struggling with cost of living and housing, it helps the poorest among us, it helps the elderly, it helps children, it helps parents, it helps First Nations communities, it helps those with serious mental health issues. It provides a foundation for a quality of living that every human being has the right to, which then feeds into healthy, productive and happier communities.

In this episode of Three Food Memories, you'll meet film director Warwick Thornton. You'll know him for his magnificent and heart-wrenching storytelling in movies such as Samson & Delilah, The New Boy, and his latest film Wolfram.

What you may not know is that he is an undeniable, dinky-di foodie. So much so that he chose not to share food memories in advance of his chat with Savva, but instead invited Savva into a conversation led by instinct, feeling, and an intense hatred for fruit in savoury food...with the exception of one particular snack.
