Die Reitvorschrift von 1912 ist eine Erweiterung der Instruktion zum Reitunterricht für die Kavallerie vom 31.8.1882 und basiert im Wesentlichen auf dem Werk Gustav Steinbrechts: Das Gymnasium des Pferdes. Sie ist gegliedert in eine Einleitung, in vier Teile mit 53 durchnummerierten Kapiteln, die wiederum weitere Abschnitte enthalten und einen Anhang mit 5 Kapiteln.
