In its strange Eastern dress, it appears to be as remote from us as the garb of an Arab, or the barter of an Oriental Bazaar. And yet human life is much the same, whenever and wherever lived. Our critics complain of our poring over these timeworn pages of ancient biography, but, with all deference to them, we feel bound to say that we learn better how to live, we inhale more spiritual ozone, we see further into the reasons of God's dealings with men, when doing so, than when scanning the pages of yesterday's ...

"But as the eye of omniscient love glanced down the ages, it must have lighted with peculiar pleasure on the eager, devoted soul of Paul. God foreknew and predestined him. The divine purpose, descrying his capacity for the best, selected him for it, and it for him." - from the audio

I remember seeing the huge Matterhorn reflected, in its minutest details, in a small mountain lakelet, many miles distant; and similarly, the life of Jesus is remarkably mirrored in this touching story. In fact, there are scenes in the life of Joseph which probably foreshadow events that are timed to happen in the near future, and which depict them with a vividness and minuteness not to be found elsewhere on the page of Scripture. It is here only that we can fully realize what will take place when the Lord Jesus makes Himself known to his brethren according to the flesh, and they exclaim, "It ...

Do you ever feel that your prayers are falling into a rut? While the freedom to speak to God about whatever is on our hearts is a great privilege, F. B. Meyer, a contemporary and friend of D. L. Moody, realized that at times our extemporaneous prayers may be difficult to frame, lack freshness or become repetitive. At such times, it is helpful to follow the thoughts and words of another and this book was designed to help Christians do just that. It contains a morning and evening prayer for each day over the course of a month, as well as for special days such as Christmas, Good Friday and Easter...

Jeremiah has always a fascination to Christian hearts, because of the close similarity that exists between his life and that of Jesus Christ. Each of them was "a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief"; each came to his own, and his own received him not; each passed through hours of rejection, desolation, and forsakenness. And in Jeremiah we may see, beaten out into detail, experiences which, in our Lord, are but lightly touched on by the evangelists. There is an especial message in the ministry of Jeremiah for those who are compelled to stand alone, who fall into the ground to die, who ...

Join Rev. F. B. Meyer, a notable contemporary of D. L. Moody, as he delves into the profound wisdom of the 23rd Psalm. (Summary by MaryAnn)

In Directory of the Devout Life, we are reminded that the core truths of Christianity and their accompanying doctrines must remain at the forefront of our lives. We cannot simply proclaim Lord, Lord; we must actively live out His teachings. True obedience is only possible through the Cross and the Holy Spirit, as we seek to be reconciled and filled with His presence. The Sermon on the Mount transforms before our eyes when viewed through the lens of Christs later life and teachings. Each line of this beautiful discourse sparkles with divine insight and resonates with the essence of the Gospel. ...

This tale, steeped in ancient tradition, may feel distant in its Eastern attire, as foreign as an Arabs garb or the lively exchanges of an Oriental Bazaar. Yet, the essence of human existence remains strikingly similar across time and space. While some may critique our fascination with these age-old narratives, we firmly believe that they offer profound insights into living. They help us breathe in spiritual vitality and deepen our understanding of Gods interactions with humanity. We are not separated by miles or centuries from our kin, for the lessons from the son of Isaac—who, after nearly...

Imagine the stunning Matterhorn perfectly mirrored in a tranquil mountain lake, its details captured in all their glory. This vivid imagery parallels the life of Jesus, beautifully reflected in the poignant story of Joseph. Within these pages, we encounter scenes from Josephs life that not only resonate with timeless truths but also foreshadow profound events yet to unfold. Here, we glimpse the moment when Jesus reveals Himself to His earthly brethren, prompting the heartfelt exclamation, It is Jesus our brother! (From the Preface)

Deep within the ocean of human existence, amidst the submerged masses, there are persistent yearnings and desires for a life filled with hope and purpose. My lifelong mission has been to tune into these echoes of longing and to shine a light on the ultimate answer the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. This book recounts my journey during my time in Leicester, illustrating the ways I have endeavored to bring this message to life, even amidst the demands of a busy pastoral vocation.
