Knox hat eine Zeitmaschine erfunden, die noch nicht ganz ausgereift ist. Durch einen dummen Zufall berührt Lupo einen falschen Hebel, sodass Fix, Foxi, Lupinchen und er ganz plötzlich durch einen Zeitstrudel in die Vergangenheit gerissen werden. Nicht nur, dass sich die Freunde nun mit Höhlenmenschen herumschlagen müssen. Nein, bei dem Zeitsprung ist auch noch Lupinchen verschwunden. Werden die drei Lupinchen finden und in ihre Zeit zurückkehren können?

Während Fix, Foxi, Lupinchen und Lupo mit ihrer Band "Die Ufos" in der Garage proben, landen im Vorgarten echte Außerirdische. Onkel Fax glaubt, dass er von Fix und Foxi veralbert wird, und entwaffnet die beiden verblüfften Aliens. Die zeigen sich recht verärgert und beschließen, erst einmal die gesamte Menschheit zu lähmen. Knox' neueste Erfindung war sicherlich gut gemeint. Aber musste Lupo denn gleich die ganze Flasche über den vertrockneten Tomatenstrauch schütten?

Das Ergebnis ist jedenfalls verheerend: Tomatilla, wie sich die Monsterpflanze nennt, wächst Lupo, Fix, Foxi und Onkel Fax buchstäblich über den Kopf. Und sie entwickelt ein höchst gefährliches Eigenleben!
