富本の師匠豊志賀は，出入りの煙草屋新吉といい仲になる。すると、豊志賀の顔に腫物ができ、どんどん腫れてくる。しばらくすると、豊志賀は新吉と弟子の若いお久との仲を邪推し始める。看病に疲れた新吉は、お久に駆け落ちを持ち掛けるが、その頃豊志賀はひとりで死んでしまう。
