Publisher's Summary

As the Horus Heresy divides the Imperium, Corax and his few remaining Raven Guard escape the massacre at Isstvan V. Tending to their wounds, the bloodied Space Marines endeavour to replenish their numbers and return to the fray, taking the fight to the traitor Warmaster.

Distraught at the crippling blow dealt to his Legion, Corax returns to Terra to seek the aid of his father - the Emperor of Mankind. Granted access to ancient secrets, Corax begins to rebuild the Raven Guard, planning his revenge against his treacherous brother primarchs. But not all his remaining warriors are who they appear to be.

The mysterious Alpha Legion have infiltrated the survivors and plan to destroy the Raven Guard before they can rebuild and threaten Horus's plans.

Great listen

Thoroughly enjoyed Deliverence Lost. Gareth Armstrong was great as always. The Alpha Legion are a favorite. Gav brings a perfect balance of intrigue and action to the story. A favorite in the Horus Heresy so far.

Spy vs spy

I was wondering when the ravenguard and alphas were gonna go toe to toe (in a manner of speaking). Awesome story as always. Great narration. Two thumbs up.

exceptional book for the Horus heresy series

this book was well-written and the storyline was thoroughly thought-through before being placed down in pain. overlapping stories Espionage and secrecy was great. Had me guessing who is who and there's several surprises at the end that I did not see coming. Very good book, well written all around

Quote the Raven

It is a good story allowing one to understand where the Ravenguard came from and how they are during the heresy.

my new fav primarch

was a little hesitant to go for this book because corax seemed like a boring primarch, and thankfully I was wrong. corax was one of the best characters I've read so far. his story is pretty rough. and the whole deal with the raven guard and alpha legion was pretty good too. all said and done it's one of my fav HH books up there with legion or prospero burns for me.

Plotholes a Landraider could drive through.

Gav Thorpe is not a writer worth wasting time on. I've done everything to avoid his books but had to buy this one in order to get all HH books. Sadly I could have saved my money because almost nothing is contributed to the HH story.

Poor voice acting lets down a reasonable story.

The story is fine enough, you may as well listen to it if you're following the horus heresy series. I'd skip it if you're cherry picking the good ones.

The voice acting let it down with almost all the marines being nasally, one very camp (like comedically so) marine and dark and brooding means talk slowly and quietly in a low voice. A lot of punctuation /phrasing issues that I'm fairly sure we're the narrator more so than the author.

Good not great

Narration was very good but I may well be over saturated with heresy audiobooks as I’m a getting a sense of deja vu with every book I now listen to, Corax, the Emperor and a Alpha legion were entertaining but too much unnecessary fillers

What a delicious spectacle of espionage and subterfuge. Deliverance Lost keeps the reader on their toes throughout, not knowing what will happen next!

I wanted to like this more

I like the Raven Guard. There were quite a few times I like this audio book for them too. Sadly it's not as good as other titles in the series. Still some important back story to the Raven Guard and the Horus Heresy but many parts drag on.
