Story
Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Story
To be human is to suffer - and yet, according to Eckhart Tolle, all of these painful moments contain an opportunity for awakening. In Transforming Suffering into Peace, this celebrated teacher offers a new perspective on the ego and what he terms "the pain-body" - all the accumulated emotional wounds that follow us through life. Though the pain-body can easily rise up and hijack our consciousness with unpleasant emotions, in this program Eckhart reveals a hopeful truth - by turning the light of awareness on our suffering, that suffering becomes a powerful gateway to Presence.

Publisher's Summary
Discover the timeless Presence beyond thought in this collection of meditations from Eckhart Tolle
We tend to think of meditation as a formal practice we block time out for each day. But what if every moment of your life was your meditation?
For Eckhart Tolle, meditation shouldn't be approached as a chore or a means to an end. Rather, meditation is something that you live. "The aim of meditation," states Eckhart, "is that it eventually becomes your normal state of consciousness." Essential Meditations with Eckhart Tolle points the way toward this quiet, constant state of Presence - where practice gives way to the realization of your innermost identity.
This retrospective collection gathers rare talks and classic meditations from Eckhart's extensive teachings, many of which have only been available to retreat participants. Over the course of eleven sessions, Eckhart leads you in meditations for breaking attachment to the stream of thought, easing suffering, discerning your "formless" self, and embodying Presence in every single moment.
Here Eckhart will guide you in discovering:
- The power of asking "Who am I?" as an inquiry practice
- Why Stillness is much more than quieting the unruly mind
- The true source of all creativity
- The evocative poetry of Steve Taylor
- Why awakening is a process of unlearning your assumptions and biases
- The infinite space hidden between your thoughts
- Recognizing yourself as embodied Presence rather than an accumulation of narratives
- Understanding the movement of chi or prana in the body
- The joyous simplicity of present-moment mindfulness
- How to rise above the thinking mind rather than sinking below it
In Essential Meditations with Eckhart Tolle, you will find not only teachings about transcending the thought-based self, but a direct experience of Stillness itself.

A Tolle Worth Paying For
Okay... I AM a fan of Eckhart Tolle’s spiritual signposts but THIS study is a step-by-step actual process that not only explains the ongoing search for true Enlightenment, the reasons for, the goals of, the joy attained, but takes you through many processes of meditation in a simple, down-to-earth style. You refine meditations WITH him so the practice becomes rehearsed enabling you to continue on your own. It is with warmth, clarity, and humility that Tolle delivers an outstanding seminar!

This is a fantastic audio. I have several other Eckhart audios and I love them all. There’s a lot of silence in this one, so I recommend it if you’re more advanced, otherwise it might be tough to get through. It’s heaven if you’re up for it!

Rise above Sirens
I really appreciate Eckhart's teachings; there is much to aspire to, by not doing, not thinking, and his reminders (through my active listening) help me become more aware, but it is an ongoing learning and no doubt will remain so.
it is probably a reflection on where I am at that I couldn't "rise above" the Intrusion of police sirens in the recording of "Rise above thinking" I do wish you had re-recorded this section Eckhart! dealing with life's imperfections is grist for the mill I know; stuff to work with, but really, some of us beginners could do without police sirens as an accompaniment to our forays into meditation. thanks for all wisdom anyway ☺️

A good spoken meditation compilation
This collection of separate ET mediation related audios is a good companion for ETs teaching library. These audios were taken from talks and private sessions and all relate to different direct pointing ways that the author delivers his teachings. I liked how there are lots of pauses in the audios and time to reflect. These are not formal meditation sessions though, and they are more like quiet reflective talks and satsang which could work for some people. The content is a lot closer to the Advaita style of teaching and free form meditative reflection (vs formal sitting styles like Vipassana etc). While I can’t fault anything with these audios, they need to be taken slowly over time, at some times they may do little to lead the listener into stillness or beingness and actually become quiet monotonous, while at other times a few sentences could hit the spot and lead in to direct presence.
