Yakisoba is a noodle dish created by frying steamed Chinese noodles with meat and vegetables. 焼きそばは、蒸した中華麺を肉や野菜とともに炒めた麺料理です。
ソースや塩で味付けをしますが、一般的なのはソース焼きそばで、焼きそば専用のソースも販売されています。
ソース味の焼きそばは、もともと駄菓子屋で子ども用のおやつとして食べられていました。
簡単に作れることから、現在では家庭料理としてもおなじみで、中華料理店やお好み焼き屋でも欠かせないメニューとなっています。
近年では秋田県の「横手やきそば」や静岡県の「富士宮やきそば」など、各地で作られる独自の焼きそばも登場。
また、お湯を注ぐだけでできるカップ麺の焼きそばや、パンに焼きそばをはさんだ「焼きそばパン」なども人気です。
