Guns and Roses

A wonderful journey into the Mafia world of Mumbai, introducing the Ladies who made it big in the men's world. The narrators did an amazing job of bringing the emotions behind the story and mesmerising from the beginning to the end. Kalki stands tall above all else !!

Such AMAZING stories of female mafia queens

They are big drug peddler / prostitution ring leaders, but these stories don't portray them as heroes. Instead, it provides their back stories and provides us with a human side to their otherwise notorious nature.
Kalki shines as a narrator with her smooth voice and Radhika shows us that her emotions are well portrayed through voice.
Well worth the time spent!

Typical Account of Criminals

Around 13 lady criminals of Mumbai have been profiled in this book but none appear shocking or surprising. We have read about most of them in news papers or periodicals regularly as they went on creating their criminal fiefdoms. Yes then we used to read piecemeal as the events happened. Here we read all together. The end of many of these lady criminals were not known. Here you do get some closure. The narrators all three are professional actors and have done their job very well. All in all an average criminal chronicle with great narration.

Excellent story poor narration

The story is just mind boggling. The stories of how few women dominated the otherwise Men dominated space is unbelievable. Some of the stories have more masala than a Bollywood movie. The death of Anita, the dark side of having an affair with Abu Salem, being wife of Chota Rajan, a dance bar girl to millionaire are some stories that will never leave your mind.

Coming to tha narration, it just falls flat. The narrators who are real life actors fail to bring in authenticity to the characters and stories.

For someone who have been spoiled by Fantasy Fiction narrators and their brilliant voice modulation, this Audiobook seems pretty basic. If you are a first time listener, you may end of enjoying the book. For seasoned listeners like me, you will feel disappointed.

However, 6hrs is no big time. Enjoy the stories and forget about the narrators.

Women Mafias

We are so conditioned to think mafia as men but listening to the stories of women mafia somewhere it made me proud that we are there. I don’t think any other audible stories would sound as good as this one. The performance of Kalki, Radika and Rajkumar has been amazing. Thank you for reading these stories for us. loved every bit of it!!

Content can get a bit of a drag

I can understand that the selling point of the book is the celebrity voicing but the content is a bit of a drag in its perspective and narrative. Also, the need for a language consultant is a must as local words when do heavily mispronounced become a pain point.

Lost in Narration

A great audio book is when you forget its being narrated and definitely forget everything about the narrator. Unfortunately this isn’t one of them. A great book ruined by poor narration. I thought the book itself is great with well researched stories. However the narration is so poor that it’s completely ruined the book. Half eaten words, poor expressions and generally lack lustre. I really really wish this book had better narrators or even just one good one
