Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Around the world, more than 8 million children live in orphanages and other institutions. What may be surprising is that about 80 percent of them aren't actually orphans. They have family who could care for them, with the right support. Lumos is an international children's charity founded by J.K. Rowling. Named after the light-giving spell in Harry Potter, Lumos' mission is to ensure that by 2050 all children will grow up in loving, protective families.

Around the world, millions of children live in orphanages and other harmful institutions. Evidence shows about 80% of them aren’t orphans and have family who could care for them with the right support. Lumos is a global charity founded by J.K. Rowling to tackle the root causes of family separation and is working to ensure every child is raised in a loving family environment.
Below, listeners can hear Tales from Lumos: Transforming Children’s Lives, an audio documentary explaining the importance of Lumos’ work through the personal experiences and reflections of two of their Youth Advocates, who are both care leavers: Jerome from the United Kingdom, and Dumitrița from Moldova in Eastern Europe.
With an introduction by Jude Law, this documentary accompanies the release of – for the first time in audio – The Tales of Beedle the Bard, an audiobook that continues to raise crucial funds for Lumos’ work around the world.
