A visionary has a dream: to drive a railroad across the North American continent and through the vast Canadian Rockies. A thousand miles of rugged land stand in the way. So do hostile Indian tribes and outlaws who the see the railroad - and the men building it - as easy prey. But the project has a guardian angel of its own...Smoke Jensen. Smoke knows that this is one job he can’t do himself, so he heads to Canada with some hard-fighting mountain men from the Colorado Rockies at his side. By the time the railroad passes through Vancouver, Smoke needs every gun he can get.

They busted out of prison, armed and ready to wreak havoc in the high country. Outrunning and outfighting the US Cavalry, more than 30 murderers and thieves would leave a trail of burned out ranches, robbed trains, and slaughtered innocents. Now, Smoke Jensen is going back to the place where his legend was born to wipe out a plague of low life vermin that have flooded the land he loves.

On the Western frontier there was no lawman more feared and respected than U.S. Marshal Bill Tilghman. But now Tilghman has found the body of a man left outside a Texas saloon. Smoke Jensen was the last Mountain Man and the fastest gun in the west. But this time, Smoke is going to put his reputation to the test in the southern reaches of Mexico. When two Mexican Gunfighters, and old friends of Smoke Jensen, send a letter asking Smoke for help, he can't possibly say no. Half white and half Indian, Yakima Henry tends to mind his own business among folks who see him as little more than a savage. But when a man named Barstow - who's taking his dead daughter home for burial - is bullied by badmen, Yakima steps in. Barstow's daughter supposedly shared a secret with her father about the location of the loot her outlaw lover stole. Although he claims no knowledge, Barstow's become a wanted man. And so has Yakima Henry.

Half Native American and Half White, Yakima Henry considers himself lucky to have any job - even if it means just sweeping up the local brothel. Now, he's become the girl's protector, and is on the run from a vicious bounty hunter.

A feared master duelist, his aim is fixed on the Dakota Territories.
