Story
I look like a normal kid. Only there's a difference. Poseidon, God of the Sea is my dad. Which sounds cool, but actually means there is usually someone (or something), somewhere, trying to kill me. Now I live at Camp Half-Blood, with other kids like me. But Camp Half-Blood is a bit different to most summer camps. Instead of toasting marshmallows and singing campfire songs, we battle giant cannibals at dodgeball.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
When we last saw George and Harold, they were about to take their pet pterodactyl, Crackers, back to the Cretaceous period. But things didn't work out quite as they had hoped. They've entered an absurd alternate reality where teachers are nice, kids are allowed to read banned books, and the cafeteria food doesn't smell like dirty diapers. Even worse, they've discovered alternate versions of themselves - Evil George and Evil Harold - who plan to unleash some preposterous plans on Piqua, Ohio.

blast from the past
very well read, a great story. The only downfall is some of the English terms used in the book are irrelevant today so my children asked me what they were. Otherwise spend many happy car journeys listening to the story with my children, and discussing how I grew up in the English countryside as a boy....

Glad Venturing On It
I am glad venturing on this particular book, it's not often I venture on children's book, it's a surprise find it interesting and engaging.
I would give my thumbs for the author and the narrator as well. The narrator performed so well and find it amazing that he could actually exploring every character in this book, with their own accent. So Lovely!!!

My son and I listened to this on a long car trip and we were both enthralled! It's DAHL after all, so we had high expectations but it blew us away. The reader puts on all the voices and reads with the right amount of emotion. The 2 1/2 trip felt like 5mins!

Amazing family listening
Can’t recommend this enough. Peter Serafinowicz’s narration is perfect for this beautiful story. I was instantly transported back to when I read the book as a child but this time brought my young song along to share in the magic. We have revisited Danny, his Dad and that little caravan many times now and we adored each visit as if it were to treasured family friends.

I remember it for primary school
good book i enjoyed it, it was easy to get though, the narrator did an excellent job. my only real issue is my personal morals have evolved since the last time I was read it. below is my feelings on the matter (spoilers ahead be warned)
I remember this book being read to me when I was in primary school and I found the concept of pheasant poaching fascinating back then. so to listen to it as an adult I realize Danny and his Dad are just a couple of thieves with good intentions who think its ok and noble to steal from someone they dislike who happens to have been successful in his business of manufacturing beer. Victor Hazel maybe rich but that doesn't make ok to steal from him. it was fun to hear this book again though.
