Ovids Liebeskunst ist der Klassiker der Liebeslehre. Als erste europäische Liebeslehre unterscheidet sie sich grundsätzlich von orientalischen Handbüchern der Liebeskunst wie etwa dem Kamasutra. Ovid geht es um die Erotik, um das gesellschaftliche Phänomen der Liebe, weniger um den Aspekt der sexuellen Perfektion - ohne diesen Bereich allerdings völlig auszusparen.
