Story
From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

Passionate and inspiring
The book is an insightful read. Jordan puts across his point of view on the rules and responsibilities which we all must adhere to passionately. His examples are insightful and rooted in psychology. I think he could have used simpler language to convey the same messages but nevertheless he puts his point across clearly and strongly.

Loved it and hated it at the same time
Loved it and hated it at the same time
Would really recommend this book as a must read.
the truth stated here seems so clear and loved those logical arguments,
but also hated the multiple instances where there are clear signs of extreme bias towards one point of view,
Be it malicious hatred for socialist, rights activist, feminism, actually anyone who hold the opposing view
Also the Views here are of someone who is truly brave truthful, holding self accountable, but also has comes from a sheltered society along with above average intelligence.
e.g.
Do you believe in God? Was stressed too much
Is it not similar to almost anything related to any belief
Q, do you believe exercising helps lead a healthier life? Yes of course yes
Then the logic goes, if you did believe it, you would be exercising, and you would not be a slob, the whole world would exercise etc etc
I am sure the writer has never seen anyone truly starving or ever personally been in any economical distress
but the thought process all of us have in our minds where we provide a rational for every action is so well depicted here, the best part of the book is reading the rational that above average intelligent people have for their beliefs and actions
The overall idea of the book is you are more powerful than you think, you can choose to change the whole world, but not by activism or asking for rights with placard etc, but by self development and taking responsibility and ownership of life actions by being truthful.
In a quote "Be the change you want to see in the world"
