Everybody knows Daisy Jones and the Six.

From the moment Daisy walked barefoot on to the stage at the Whisky, she and the band were a sensation. Their sound defined an era. Their albums were on every turntable. They sold out arenas from coast to coast.

This is the story of their incredible rise: the desire, the rivalry – and the music.

Then, on 12 July 1979, Daisy Jones and the Six split up.

Nobody knew why. Until now....

Not just one way to describe it

Everything together is so so powerful, it can get you to cry. I find it has all of it; all of life imbued into one book. The characters will never leave you...Daisy Jones' life is one journey we take. The Six are a band destined for more than shallow greatness. The story is narrated differently than any other I've come accross and the voices themselves are as perfect as it gets. I can't truly describe it. This book can't be described by one single idea. The multiple perspectives allow for unimaginably unique interpretations and the ending just grasps you. Don't think too hard and just go for this colossal ride and know it for yourself. Maybe that's what the book is really about...

Absolutely Captivating

The characters, the narrators..all had their own unique personality. The story telling was what captivated me the most..it just pulls you in. It makes you feel what every character is feeling. We understand where they were coming from when they act or behave certain way. You see how one person's unintentional behaviour can affect the other, how one situation can be perceived differently by each individual. You sympathize with them because it seems like it's all real, you want them to be happy...all of them. Because you just can't hate these characters for being who they are...and cause you can see it all happening in real life. It's a story of Rockstars and that's how you feel when you read it. Would recommend it 💯.

Totally worth every hype

I actually google if it was real, like all evening thats what I did. It felt so real, so true... so many characters, all with different stories, all wanted different from life. The narration was on point. Loved it ❤️❤️

Great narration and performances but a dull story

Loved the cast and their performances. This is the epitome of how an audiobook should be. The story isn’t that great though. There was no proper character development. Would love to give this author one more try though

Engaging!

Clearly, one of the best audio books out there! Every character has been played convincingly. I could picture them as if I was watching a movie. The story in itself has been paced well. It was quite an experience. Brilliant!

Art. She had me fooled....

I was so sure this was a real band, I searched the web for ages- trying to find them, their photos, songs. It was only then did I realise this was a mythical group. That is how well written this story was. The characters were alive. Their story, the push and pull of wanting verses needing, of trying to find a place for ones soul in a world of creative chaos... of the many ways true love can manifest....this story sits in your soul.
The narration, poetry, storyline, sub themes, emotions...together they move your spirit like a powerful artwork does. It shifts something in you, maybe the compassion we have in knowing how difficult this human experience can be. And the different ways we must learn to love, to maintain peace.
Just, wow.... :)

Broke my heart in the best way

I’m not a music person. I used to be though. At first I thought I’ll skip this book despite the hype because I didn’t really like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (Jenkins Reid’s previous novel).

This however, really truly blew my socks off. I felt I was in my twenties again, following a band and wanting to be in a band. If you think this is about music, you’re right. But it’s so much more than that. It’s about unrequited love, about saving yourself, about soulmates, and so much more. I loved it to my core. I bought a physical copy to keep in my library just so I can relive the feeling I get hanging out with Daisy Jones and The Six.

Choosing to listen to the book REALLY ‘amplified’ the experience. The book is written in oral history form, and it’s the best format for listening via audiobook.

Amazing

I decided to listen to this book because everyone is talking, no actually, raving, about this book, and I get it now. It was such an amazing listening experience. I love the way the audible audiobook had the different narrators and where there was a little clip from each of them before going into the details of the part of the story being told. It was brilliant.
The story in itself was somehow inspirational as well. It was raw and real and amazing, but also very sad. It really made me reflect on my life and love and being who you are. This was a wonderful read and I will highly recommend it to any one.
This is the second book by Taylor Jenkins Reid I've read and she is now officially one of my favourite authors.

Cheesy

I listen to a lot of music biography audiobooks, and this popped up and it had good reviews, but it plays to music biz stereotypes, and the voices and accents of the actors sound modern not 60s/70s. It's pretty cheesy, If you are vaguely knowledgeable or care about the music of this time, then it probably isn't for you. I think Amazons algorithms got it wrong when they pointed it in my direction.

😭 Absolutely amazing!

This book felt like one of those celeb documentaries and it follows a band that I wished existed. While The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a huge hit in 2018, this book has outshone it. I was so immersed with the characters and the story, it felt so real. I am still a bit emotional after that last hour but it definitely surprised me. This book was amazing, I highly recommend it to anyone, especially through an audiobook, I think if I had read the book physically it wouldn't have worked as it did with the audiobook.

Fabulous . A gem of an audiobook

This is a brilliant book really brought to life as an audiobook. Performances are all excellent, the story unique and so refreshing after the hundred clone detective, unthrilling thrillers and Gone Girl books that are everywhere right now.

I love the way this never tried to be a story where all worked out well, it was just an honest account of a band that was believable. I would have loved it to have gone on a bit longer.

This one deserves ALL of the stars!!

Daisy is kind of a Nobody, with being a Somebody dreams, so she makes those dreams a reality, she is exactly the girl who she wants to be and will not change for anyone! #FistBump!

Told in the style of a Interview/Documentary, this is the story of how Daisy Jones, met The Six, how the band became a household name in the 70’s, how they sold out stadiums and the like.

It also tells the story of what happens after the audience goes home, after the lights have gone out, and after the fans have had their share of you.

It is about Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll, and it is also about how and what the band thought about each other, and their take on their own story.

Because it is being told by each member of the band, you get 7 or more different takes of the same story, but who’s account is really true?

I ADORED this story, it is so cleverly written and so believable, TJR has such a clever way of spinning her stories, once again I found myself Googling “Are Daisy Jones and the Six a real band?” *Spoiler – They’re not”

*Although they may be in the near future as this book has been grabbed by Reece Witherspoon for her Sunshine Books Read, and it is currently going into production for a TV series, I can’t wait to see the casting!

If you are going to grab ANY book this year, make sure it’s this one, you wont regret it I promise.

Think of this as a kind of Fleetwood Mac story, except you get to know the full story, warts and all.

🎧🎧 – I’m not sure if I can talk about the narration without getting all gushy, from what I have read, TJR cast the audio narrators herself, if this is the case, I bow down to her awesomeness, because it is PERFECTION!!!

Not sure how to convey my thoughts on this other to say that it is a must. The narrators are so good that I forgot this was fiction and not some amazing documentary I was listening to. Highly recommend to anyone who is even a little passionate about music. I can feel a major slump to follow but so worth it ❤❤❤

A novel as a radio play

The multiple voice actors and the interview format made this an incredible audio experience and I struggle to imagine how a print version could come close to competing. I would recommend this as an audiobook above any other platform.

The story is not crazy, somewhat predictable, especially if you know your rock history (specifically the making of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac) but the point isn't the plot but the people, the interactions and the complexity of human relationships. Jenkins Reid paints a tapestry of passionate humanity and I am better for the experience.

Amazing Audible version

Daisy Jones and The Six - first up I have to say do yourself a favour - listen to the Audible version, it is absolutely AMAZING to listen to this story. With 15 narrators telling the story (yep - I went back to Amazon to look it up and counted once I started listening, as there were so many different voices!), it was mesmerising to listen to - and the narrators all do such a fantastic job with their characters.

The way the author wrote the story made it all the more fascinating to listen to, it really felt like I was listening to a documentary rather than a fictional story. I really enjoyed the way the story was told from the beginning. Alternating between the background story of The Six and their rise to fame, and the background of Daisy Jones, until they meet and then their story merges into the one. The story touches on many things you would expect from a famous rock band from the 70's, with the members trying to deal with their fame, addictions, love, loss, touring, being in each other's faces constantly - I was halfway through the Audible version when I also ordered myself a paperback copy, I just knew it was going to be amazing all the way through to the end, and I needed it for my bookshelf.

I hadn’t listened to an audiobook until I listened to Daisy Jones and the Six. I’ve always been a fan of Jennifer Beals so it was a pleasant surprise to hear her unmistakable voice. It felt like an intimate experience listening to different narrators. I think this book worked really well as an audiobook. The performances were superb and the storyline was interesting. Good times rock n roll story

I’ve had such a great time listening to this. It reminds me why I loved reading Rolling Stone and Hot Metal so much when I was a kid and hits the mark on the tensions that make so many great albums and bands what they are.

You can’t help but think of Fleetwood Mac the whole way through, Daisy Jones owes a lot to Stevie Nicks no doubt!

I loved that the women in this story are all strong, take no prisoners characters although each in a different way.

It’s the story of a bunch of geniuses exploding then imploding but they have a hell of a good time doing it.

I loved this book. It was different from anything else I’ve listened to and I thought about the characters for a long time after the book was finished. I cared about them and I liked that each character had a different narrator.
